On Monday, March 9th, I had the honor of attending the Day of Hope celebration at Benton Co. Courthouse. Benton Co. Mayor Mark Ward, City of Camden Mayor Roger Pafford, and Town of Big Sandy Mayor John Clement signed a joint proclamation acknowledging March 9th as the Benton County Day of Hope.

The Day of Hope was created by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to encourage Tennesseans to share hope with those who may be struggling with mental illness, substance use disorder, or other life challenges. It serves as a reminder that no one has to walk through difficult seasons alone.

I am incredibly passionate about my work with local prevention coalitions, local treatment providers, and recovery courts to ensure anyone wanting help has the resources needed to get started. I want everyone to understand that addiction, mental health challenges and recovery not only affect the person but the families and communities as well. As a whole we can work together to help the community one person at a time.

I want to say a huge thank you to Nikki Sayles Green for the amazing job she does with the Benton County Prevention Coalition and all of the surrounding counties in West TN.

Out of a continued abundance of concern for our staff, clients and citizens, our TCSW Office will be closed the remainder of this week. All clients will be rescheduled to next week. Please be safe, remain off the roads, and stay warm. Be mindful, it’s not just the roads that are slick, it’s parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances to places you may get out and visit. Falls and serious injuries just aren’t worth it to you or those you love. Encourage others to stay home as well.

You can use our website to make payments and check-ins.

We are so appreciative of the work WRAP does in Henry County for survivors. WRAP Advocate Laura Winston plays a vital role in providing resources, counseling, and services. We are thankful that as our perpetrator programs hold offenders accountable, that we have a shared and common goal to ensure safety for all survivors. When we work together for a common goal, we can achieve anything.

FREE VIRTUAL TRAINING on DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

November 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM.

"Why do my DV clients always want to dismiss their protection orders?" "If this abuser keeps saying they need their stuff from the victim's apartment, why do they have so many excuses for not picking it up at the agreed times?" "Why would anyone stay with an abusive partner?" If you work with victims of Intimate Partner Violence, you have probably heard questions like those and maybe even asked them yourself. IPV is a pattern of behaviors, not a singular event, and a failure to understand the intricacies of that pattern can lead to inappropriate responses by law enforcement, the courts, victim advocates, and other supportive outsiders. This "intensive introduction" is ideal for novice and veteran justice system personnel alike. Webinar attendees will be able to: - Better recognize and name abusive tactics for what they are and how they work. - Approach current victims of domestic violence with a deeper understanding and provide more effective support. - Access additional resources for more in-depth information on DV. - Understand how to better support friends and family experiencing DV.

If we all play just a small part, we can make a huge difference. Here is one of the great ways you can plus yourself in, in our local community to serve others. This is such a wonderful program and the positive outcomes for children 3 years of age and younger, along with their families that have the opportunity to flourish, because of the resources, tools and services put in place for them.

Because sometimes it’s hard to feed children in the summer! Operation Summer Snacks is in process!
