Medicare is the real deal, please don't switch to one of these other plans. If you are on one, please switch back to Medicare.
THIS! This is what Nurse Case Managers care about.
We care about: what insurance card your mom, dad, or grandparents carry in their wallet. Sounds crazy?? Not if you work in healthcare.
If it says Humana, UHC, Aetna or says “Medicare Advantage,” that is not Medicare. It replaces their Medicare. And when the crisis comes….stroke, fracture, amputation, heart attack…these plans are notorious for:
 • Denying inpatient rehab
 • Denying/limiting skilled nursing stays
 • Denying/limiting home health services
 • Forcing families into the cheapest option, not the right one
Families end up shocked, stuck with fewer choices, and scrambling to bring loved ones home without the right support.
With traditional Medicare, you do not fight these battles. Patients are covered for inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, and home health, when medically necessary, just without the same layers of red tape.
I’m a nurse, and I see this play out EVERY SINGLE DAY. Families are left holding the burden, becoming full-time caregivers overnight because their loved one’s insurance denied the right care. Case managers are stuck taking the backlash and it’s not because the patient doesn’t need it, but because the insurance won’t approve it.
And to those who sell Medicare Advantage Part C plans: please don’t try to explain the “benefits.” Every provider I work with sees the harm these denials cause. We fight for patients, we plead for the care they deserve, and too often the answer is still no. If you defend these plans, be ready, because the entire health care community will tell you exactly how broken they are.
👉 October 15th is the start of open enrollment. Go check their wallet now, before you’re standing in a hospital with no options.
