“Be still and know that I am God” is much harder than it sounds.

In fact, when we want an answer, or some direction or clarity in life, the idea of stilling ourselves and waiting on God can be infuriating.

It’s not in most of our natures to quiet, to stop and listen, and to meditate on who God is, when there is chaos whirling around us.

We want to fix, we want to control, we want to make the pain go away as fast as possible.

Yet God often points us back to this same thing.

“Be still and know I’m God.”

But it’s not just being still, it’s the “knowing” that I think is key.

We need to be still so we can know. So we can remember. So we can really look at God and be reminded of who He is, and who He has always been.

It’s about going beyond our circumstances to what is eternal and finding peace in the one who holds all of it.

It’s in this process that our focus, our perspective and our hearts change.

This process is essential, even when it’s the last thing we want to do, because God knows it’s what we need.

So when He says, “Be still and know that I am God”, it’s not because He wants us stuck where we are.

It’s because He knows dwelling with Him, and knowing Him deeper, is going to be what actually gets you out.

Dont be afraid to be still and know.

He’ll be right there in it.

Today I read that grief is like “loving deeply with nowhere for it to go.” This resonated with me and helped to put feelings into words. Grief is so complicated to understand whether you have never lived it or even if you are going through it. Unfortunately, it’s a part of life and given the chance to live long enough, we will all experience it. Sometimes it helps to put feelings into words. Grief feelings will at times lessen in intensity or change and evolve into other emotions. One thing is for certain- Your longing and love that you feel for your loved one will never fade away, but that is a testament to the space they have always held in your heart. ♥️

To all of you grieving loved ones this Holiday Season, I get you! Grief is so difficult especially this time of year. Remember that they would not want you to be sad, but to celebrate the life they had. Honor them in some small way, and to get you through, try new things. Maybe it’s a new tradition or a new activity just for fun, but remember they would want you to live and to live for your other loved ones! ♥️🙏🏻 { In Memory of My Daddy }

— You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once —
You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home,
they are gone.
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.

Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.

Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realise,
they are gone,
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,

for a lifetime.
