David Earl Johnson, 81, of Paris, Arkansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 28, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 8, 1944 in Houston, Arkansas to his parents, D.M. and Elsie (Sampley) Johnson.

David worked for almost 30 years for Pentzien as a boat captain. His boat was responsible for dredging many miles of the river and constructing many rock d***s. He later worked for Mobley Construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. David was a true outdoorsman who loved to go fishing, hunting and camping, especially going to deer camp with his family. He could always be found tinkering with something in his shop. David was a hard worker and avid outdoorsman but his life always centered around his faith and family. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and his most cherished memories were made spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Lyndal Johnson, Hoss Johnson, Jimmy Johnson and Johnny Johnson; one sister, Melvina Johnson; one half sister, Lucille Reynolds and two grandchildren, Marissa and Alissa Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue (Fox) Johnson; two sons, Adam Johnson and wife Heather of Paris and Daniel Johnson and wife Melissa of Subiaco; one sister, Doris Smart and husband Rex of Perryville; one brother, Richard Johnson of Perryville; five grandchildren, Richie Johnson and wife Brittany, Kailee Stinnett and husband Preston, Morgan Johnson, Trevor Johnson and wife Shadow and Karissa Johnson; two great grandchildren, Charlie Johnson and Ryder Stinnett and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Paris. A memorial service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Jeremy Jones. Burial of cremated remains will be at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Magazine by the family at a later date.

Jason Lee Miller, 45, of New Blaine, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in Paris. He was born on October 6, 1979 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to his parents, Jerry Miller and Tammy (James) Garrison.

He is survived by his mother, Tammy Garrison and husband Joe of New Blaine; his father, Jerry Miller of Paris; his heart, Allison Chambers of the home,one daughter, Sadie Lexis Miller of Belton, Missouri; four sons, Brady Cochran of Russellville, Jason Miller Jr. of Belton, Missouri and Jace Miller of Seymour, Missouri; four sisters, Shawna Clayton and husband Rodney of Paris; Megan Smith and husband Donny of Russellville, Shawna Peugh of Magazine and Kayla Young and Michael of Seneca, Missouri; one grandchild, Kyland Alvarez; his grandparents, Mary Lou Miller of Paris, Freeda Bean and Jim Bean of Paris,and Claudie James of Paris. Numerous nieces and nephews that thought Uncle Jarmo was individually their very best friend . Jason will be deeply missed by a large extended family, and many friends.

Jason worked for many years in the landscaping business, he loved being outside working with his hands breathing the fresh air and making things pretty '' like him ''. He was a very talented artist, he loved to draw and create on all styles of canvas. He was quite the comedian and if you followed him on social media, you were more than aware of his jokester style,and may still be looking for that snake.

Jason loved the time he spent in Florida and due to his love of water, weather it be beach,lake,river or stream that's where he wanted to be, he shall forever have that.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday July 29, 2025
at First Assembly of God in Paris officiated by Rev. Raymond Alan Powell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

John Edward Gattis, 50, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in Paris. He was born on July 15, 1975 in Paris to his parents, Jimmy Gattis and Janice L. (Owens) Gattis.

John worked for many years as a CNA. He loved to go hunting and fishing, riding his four wheeler, mowing with his new lawnmower and most of all spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his son, Paxton Gattis; father, Jimmy Gattis; his brother, Daniel Lee Gattis and his grandmothers, Ruby Jewell Gattis and Emma Mickley.

He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Shandi (Varnell) Gattis of Paris; his son, Colton Gattis of Paris; his step son, Larry Sanner of Hazen; his step daughter, Hailey Sanner of Paris; his sisters, Michelle Weems and husband Terry of Hazen and Crystal Gattis of Scranton; his brothers, Brian Johnson and wife Tonya of Subiaco, J.R. Summers of Dublin and Jason Gattis and wife Sarah of Paris and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Prairie View Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

William “Wild Bill” Waters, 69, of Paris Arkansas passed away peacefully on Sunday July 20th 2025 with his brother, Pete by his side. Bill was born on January 26, 1956 in Philadelphia PA to James and Eleanor(Ryan) Waters.

Bill was a retired carpenter who shared many stories of work he had done in South Florida Once retired Bill headed out to Arkansas to enjoy the free range of life. He enjoyed the outdoors, stargazing, riding his side by side, taking pictures of nature, boating, fishing and especially riding his motorcycle. Bill rode that motorcycle all over the states, Moab being his last ride with friends. He earned the name “Wild Bill” by his friends for his many life adventures & experiences. Wild Bill had so many great memories and he wasn’t shy to share his stories from the Jersey Shore to Costa Rica and everywhere in between.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James “AJ” Waters.
He is survived by two sisters, Peggy Waters of Bartlett, Illinois and Eleanor Hendricks and husband Bruce of Bartlett, Illinois; one brother, Pete Waters and wife Julie of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; his nieces and nephews, Matthew Waters, Colleen Maginn and fiancé Yalonda Roberts, Lindsay Antonios and husband Adam and Brian Hendricks and wife Casey and his great nieces, Ellie Rose Antonios and Bella Antonios.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Bettye Mae (Bowen) King, 98, of Charleston, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 7, 1927 in Fort Smith to Luther and Pearl (Brotherton) Bowen, Bettye was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of many with her profound sense of warmth, humor, generosity, and compassion. To know her was to love her, and to feel loved. After graduating from Charleston High School in 1945, Bettye went on to attend Draughon's Business College. She worked for Garrison Furniture Company and was a Teller at American State Bank/Simmons Bank. She was married to her best friend, Paul, for 61 years until his death in 2010. She missed him every day after and could often be found by his grave, changing out flowers or flags. Bettye's faith and her relationship with God were very important to her. She loved attending First United Methodist Church in Charleston where she sang in the choir, served with the United Methodist Women's Unit, and led UM Kids for 40 years. She also belonged to, and was an active member of, American Legion, Eastern Star, and the National Rural Letter Carrier Association Auxiliary. She was also a volunteer Coordinator for the Charleston Community Blood Drive for many years. Bettye loved spending time with her friends and family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. Her favorite times were when they were all together in one place.

Bettye was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister, Doris Paul, her brother, Billy Bowen, and her husband, Paul King.

She is survived by her children, Randy King, Steven King (Sheila), and Susan Armacost (Scott); her grandchildren, Miki Biggers (Coe), Jordon King (Josh Dougherty), Kaleb King (Chelsea), Austin King (Samantha), Connor Armacost, Alexis McCasquez (Jose), and Bryce Sinnett (Logan); and her great grandchildren, Kane and Krew King, and Parker and Kendall Sinnett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Charleston First United Methodist Church on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM.

A service will be held at the Charleston United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Garden of Memories Cemetery, also located in Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Charleston First United Methodist Church in Bettye's name; P.O. Box 35, Charleston, AR 72933.

Franklin Lewis ''Frank'' Mauer, Jr., 74, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 15, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana to his parents, Franklin Lewis Mauer, Sr. and Ruth (Pugh) Haag.

Frank was a United States Air Force veteran and was a member of the United Pentecostals of Paris. He retired after 33 years of service from Calvert McBride Printing Company in Fort Smith. He loved to go fishing, hunting and bowling.

He is preceded in death by his parents Franklin Lewis Mauer, Sr. and Ruth (Pugh) Haag.

He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Donna Sue (Seifert) Mauer of Paris; two daughters, Robin Fleener and husband Darrell of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Lacey Lamb and husband Bill of Fort Smith; two sons, Ryan Mauer and wife Savana of Booneville and Lewis Mauer and Mandi of Paris; three brothers, Brian Mauer and wife Dawanna of Columbia, Mississippi, Steven Mauer and wife Melissa of Franklinton, Louisiana and Robert J. Haag III and wife Kay of Poteau, Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m., on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following at 2:00p.m., officiated by Rev. Dennis Hall. Burial of cremated remains will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Paris following the memorial service.

Cremation arrangements and memorial services are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Russell, Travis Carrol, Brad Stovall and Rusty Helms.

Berneda ''Neda'' Morris,75, of Paris, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Clarksville, Arkansas with her family by her side.

Berneda was born January 21, 1950, in Paris, Arkansas to her parents, Granvel Fairbanks and Betty Lou (Phillips) Fairbanks. She was an English teacher for the Magazine school district for thirteen years teaching at the high school and the Jr. High and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist church where she attended services and helped teach Vacation Bible School. Berneda loved spending time with her grandchildren, reading books, going to church and traveling with her friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of fifty-one years, Jerry Lee Morris; three brothers, Mark Fairbanks, Gary Fairbanks and Paul Don Fairbanks; two sisters, Sue Young and Diane Easley.

She is survived by four children, Tammy (Morris) McKean and husband, Jimmy of Ozark, Tawnya (Morris) Hines of Paris, Paul Morris and wife, Beth of Paris and Zac Morris and wife, Kelly of Paris; nine grandchildren, Harley Hines and wife, Alyssa, Carter Lefflett, Jayden McKean, Chloee Morris, Kinsley Hines, Harper Morris, Hadlee Morris, J.D. McKean and River Morris, several other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris officiated by Rev. Jeremy Jones with burial to follow in Paint Rock Cemetery.

Kerri Marlo Case, 54, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 in Paris. She was born on April 26, 1971 in Paris to her parents, Tommy Neil Case and Brenda Nicholas.

Kerri worked for several years at both Cloyes Gear Company and Hanes Brand in Clarksville. She was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of the Pentecostals of Paris Church. Kerri loved music, especially playing the guitar, enjoyed to go fishing, but more than anything she loved Jesus and her family.

She is preceded in death by her father, Tommy Neil Case; her grandparents, Charlie and Icey Case and Gene and Vera Nicholas and one nephew, Christian Varnell.

She is survived by her mother, Brenda Nicholas of Paris; her sister, Kelly Case of Paris; her best friend of over 30 years, Leigh Ann Johnson of Paris; her nephew, Zachary Stephens; her great niece, Paisley Varnell several cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial of cremated remains will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery in St. Louis Valley at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, July 21, 2025.

Robert ''Bob'' Koenigseder, 93, of Scranton, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on October 26, 1931 in Scranton to his parents, George Joseph and Marie Gertrude (Koch) Koenigseder.

Bob was a 1950 graduate of Subiaco Academy and was a United States Army veteran. He worked for several years as a small appliance and TV repairman and had a dairy and beef cattle farm. He served as the Scranton mayor for four years and was vital in acquiring city water for hishome town. He was an avid baseball fan and loved to follow the Los Angeles Dodgers. He served on the Farm Bureau Board for over 48 years and was a dedicated member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and the Fr. Raphael DeSalvo Knights of Columbus Council 14619.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one son, Robert Alan Koenigseder; two sisters, Patricia Koenigseder and Mary Ann Frederick and one brother, James Koenigseder.

He is survived by his wife of over 69 years, Wanda (Hamilton) Koenigseder of Scranton; three daughters, Diane Tencleve and husband David of Ozark, Debra Lee and husband Dylan of Ratcliff and Rhonda Forst and husband Steve of Charleston; one son, Greg Koenigseder and wife Cindy of Fort Smith; three sisters, Doris Davis of Dublin, Betty Jansen of Greenwood and Joan Day of Fort Smith; one brother, William Koenigseder and wife Mary Rita of Fort Smith; 13 grandchildren, Michelle Laitinen, Keith Tencleve, Angela Winters, Bobby Koenigseder, Jeffery Koenigseder. Ashley Anhalt, Alexa Carpenter, Paige Spencer, Deacon Hardwicke, Ryleigh Montgomery, Brianna Verkamp, Kalen Forst and Alyssa Forst; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with the rosary service to begin at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 11, 2025 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Scranton.

The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers will be Keith Tencleve, Bobby Koenigseder, Jeffery Koenigseder, Deacon Hardwicke, Kalen Forst, Kenny Frederick, Jim Koch and Roger Koenigseder.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of his friends from Dan's Shop, Jim Ahne's and the 4-Way Quick Stop.

Helen Dean (Apple) Hill, 93, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in Sand Springs. She was born on January 15, 1932 in Millard, Arkansas to her parents, Alfred Lee and Helen Irene (Sharp) Apple.

Helen was a dedicated homemaker who was an exceptional seamstress. She loved to be in the garden with her husband and could be found canning fruits and vegetables all summer long. Along with sewing and being in the garden, Helen also enjoyed fishing, baking and teaching others how to cook and sew. She baked many desserts for neighbors, friends and even restaurants. She passed down countless recipes for her children and grandchildren throughout the years. Helen was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Paris, Arkansas as well as the EH club in Paris. She loved her family and was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend; but most of all she loved her heavenly father. She was adored by all her grandchildren. She always made each of them feel special, but yet they were never jealous of each other because she made each of them feel as though they were her favorite. She taught her family love, kindness, the importance of family, to always work hard, but above all, she put Christ first in all that she did. Her willingness to give and help others was inspiring. Her ability to turn scraps into something beautiful with her quilts and other sewing projects were something to be admired by all. She was such an amazing example of what Jesus teaches us to be.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her step mother, Nellie Apple; her husband, Harley Edward Hill; one son, Jerry Don Hill; one grandson, Harley Gene Bridges and two brothers, Charles Apple and Joe Apple.

She is survived by three daughters Edwina Bridges of Paris, Arkansas; Reba Orton and husband Stephen of Cushing, Oklahoma and Lawana Sexton of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, one son Terry Hill of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one sister, Mary Hixson and husband Ronald of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; one brother, George Apple and wife Nancy of Tulsa, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Corley Cemetery in Paris officiated by Rev. Stephen Orton under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Bob Pilgreen, 73, of Magazine, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Booneville.

Bob was born February 5, 1952, in Paris, Arkansas to his parents, Sidney Pilgreen Sr. and Agnes (Winkleman) Pilgreen. He worked in the oil field for forty-three years for Nabors Drilling and various other drilling companies in the area. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and driving up and down the backroads.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of thirty-one years, Vickie (Mitchell) Pilgreen.

He is survived by his daughter, Robbin Sloan and husband, Philip of Driggs; a son, Shane Haney and wife, Jennifer of Magazine; a brother, Sid Pilgreen and wife, Donna of Paris; two sisters, Janet Rogers and husband Randy of Scranton and Elaine Robertson of Paris; four grandchildren, Kearsten Smith and husband, Jeremy, Brent Haney and wife, Molly, William Sloan and Journey Sloan; three great grandchildren, John Smith, Maysi Haney and Mady Haney; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2025, at Baxley Cemetery in Paris.

Joyce May Robinson, 74, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Paris. She was born on May 15, 1951 in Tiller, Arkansas to her parents, Clarence and Corine (Hice) Griffin.

Joyce worked alongside her husband for many years on their poultry farm and was a dedicated homemaker. She loved feeding her birds, listening to country music and most of all spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Paris.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Pauline Mayhue; two sisters, Glenda Griffin and Gayle Novak and two brothers, Frankie Dodd and Donnie Dodd.

She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Jim Robinson of Paris; one daughter, Christina Joyce Simmons of Booneville; one son, James Paul Robinson of Paris; one sister, Patricia Barnes and husband Jerry of Midway; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

There will be a private memorial service held at a later date with burial of cremated remains in Baxley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
