There are many accommodations that can be added to a students’ IEP to aid with hearing impairments. For example a student can be provided Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) such as:

1. FM Systems: A microphone worn by the teacher transmits sound directly to the student’s hearing aids or cochlear implants, minimizing background noise.

2. Personal Neck Loops: These connect to the student’s hearing aids and transmit sound wirelessly.

3. Audio Induction Loop Systems: These systems create a magnetic field that transmits sound to hearing aids equipped with telecoils.

Other accommodations include preferential seating, clear visual aids, real time captioning, and more. The most important thing is to accommodate the child’s specific needs. 👍
