The gift cards are in! I didn't think they'd make it on time. Now you can purchase gift cards online and on- site with me. Both powered by Square- meaning no more middle woman (me) involved 😁 The cards are encrypted and secure just as your bank and credit cards. You now have the freedom to manage your own bookings at your convenience, easier tracking of usage, five year expiration dates and no worries of non-usage fees. It is a total win/win! The only caveat: if you want to purchase a physical gift card, it requires you to get in touch with me first so that I may set aside some time for you. Keep in mind, you can purchase an e-gift card as well (especially on snowy days like today where you don't want to leave your house). Find the link directly on the website.

...and now I understand why you all 'crash' in relief after a cupping session! Most of you all have heard me at one time or another say that I don't like massages because it isn't one of MY massages 🤣, but as a massage therapist, I must maintain my musculature so that you all can keep catching these hands. My massage therapist self care was stretching and doing magnesium floats. But, my float place closed back in March or April, so I really wasn't getting full care. Full transparency here- for the past two weeks, I have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my left forearm and fingers. Me being me, I'm all like 'no big deal' and kept it moving. I even massaged, cupped and applied magnesium and frankincense to my forearms just last night. Around noon today, a pain shot up the back of my head and both arms went numb. I touched my shoulder and it was like a rock; just the pot calling the kettle black when I'm fussing at you all about the condition of your muscles 🤣
It took me a while and some intense research before I finally gave in and found a place to go today. I still had/have reservations (my perfectionism for my craft gets the best of me) but I needed to tackle this before I was put out of the game. This, ladies and gents, is fire cupping. The darker the impressions, the more tension and toxins present. As you can see, I have a lot of dark spots. This WAS FANTASTIC! I'm not new to fire cupping, I just never allowed myself to indulge. Guess who's going every month from this point on?! If not just for the care but to watch these dark impressions become lighter- indicative of my muscles being in a better state.
Before you ask, I don't do fire cupping at Nabada because it is a liability and I couldn't be insured. You all will just keep getting those silicone and hard plastic ones that are insurable 🤣
Check out the link in the comments if you want to learn more about fire cupping and see how its done.

I don't get to use these often but when I do, I am always amazed at how I can taste the salt (I am also one who can taste anything pushed through an I.V. when I happen to get one, so 🤷🏾‍♀️😆) . When the himalayan salt stone is heated, the minerals in them are absorbed by both me and the client. I wonder did my client taste it? I definitely should have asked but I am not a session talker and by the time the session is over, random questions like that escape me 😆 Ok, enough of my randomness- I'm headed back into the fray. Make today count ❤️

It is that time of year to be mindful of those suffering Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). This condition throws off our internal biochemistry. Approximately, 10 million adults in the U.S. experience SAD; women are four times likely to be impacted than men (particularly if the woman is perimenopausal). Unfortunately, people don't know that they are suffering from this, so shedding more light on to what is being considered a mental health concern is of the utmost importance; especially if a person already has a history of depression.

It is early enough in the season to be proactive/preventative, so some ways to push back against SAD include but are not limited to: watching your diet, nurturing your gut biome, taking a proper vitamin D supplement (do the chemistry research to find out how to make the Vitamin D more bioavailable), exercise and light therapy. Taken directly from a NPR article:

A lot of research has shown that using bright light therapy in the morning can be extremely helpful to reverse some of the symptoms of seasonal depression," says Dr. Dorothy Sit, a psychiatrist and associate professor at Northwestern University, who has studied bright light therapy.

Typically, people sit in front of a light box, which emits bright light, every morning for about 30 minutes, give or take. Sit says making it part of a morning routine is key. "If people use a light box every day they can experience an enduring effect throughout the fall and winter," she says.

Sit points to an often-cited study that found light therapy is on par with standard anti-depression medications in relieving symptoms. Some people do both, taking medication and using a light box, and research shows the combination can be helpful. Studies point to improvements in symptoms within one week of starting light therapy.

These light boxes can be found at most retailers. Studies say to find one that emits at least 10,000 lux and UV protection. As always, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. THIS POST IS INFORMATIVE ONLY AND NOT INTENDED TO DIAGNOSE OR TREAT.

The word in these holistic health streets is that Red Light Therapy is known to reduce oxidative stress - the imbalance of antioxidants and free radicals in the body (the free radicals are the bad dudes). Keep in mind that everything has a balance for wellness. Red Light therapy repairs tissue and reduces inflammation as well as helps with certain types of pain. It's reported to be spectacular for skin rejuvenation as well; things like scarring, acne, psoriasis, etc., but that is not my scope of practice, so that won't be my focus when you come in for treatment.

I haven't added this to the menu yet. I'm still configuring and processing. To yield the best outcomes, I've got to think of the perfect pairing of services. In the meantime, here is a study on Red Light Therapy and its effects on pain:
