What a beautiful reminder from Skin By Kenz
So, today was a really tough day. Honestly, I don’t have many of those.
I came to work this morning with problems of my own.. stressed out and overwhelmed. I put it all aside and started my schedule just like I would any other day.
When this evening rolled around, I had a new client on my schedule. I didn’t know her, had never heard her name.
With any new client, I have them fill out forms and ask questions. Immediately, this client informed me that she is undergoing cancer treatments and has been for a while. She proceeded to tell me how much of a “mess” she was and started apologizing. She also explained to me how these new cancer treatments have affected her, her skin, and her facial hair.
We started her service (dermaplane and brow wax) and I explained to her what we would be doing, the benefits, etc. as she had never had this done before. When i described that dermaplaning would take off the dead skin and hair, she started crying.
In that moment, I could tell that this was much more to her than just coming in to get something done.
Her cancer treatments have COMPLETELY changed her skin, dried her out, and have made her facial hair thicker, and she kept telling me how embarrassed she was. And quite honestly, it was the first time I’ve seen anything like it from cancer treatments. BUT, my room is a safe, judgment free space NO MATTER WHAT.
She cried, and I cried right along with her.
Needless to say, I took extra good care of this woman, and didn’t charge her.
Why? Because God told me I SHOULDNT.
This woman has worked all throughout her treatments because “there’s not many resources,” she told me.
I’m not posting this for praise or compliments… I’m posting this because despite what I had going on this morning, God humbled me. My problems are so little compared to what some people are going through.
This industry is so money hungry that we forget to be REAL humans with REAL feelings. I missed out on $___ and I don’t care a single bit because I HELPED THIS WOMAN, it showed, and that’s all I can ask for. This industry is so much more for me than what I make in a week.
Pray. Pray for other people. Pray for yourself. Find God. Be the good in this world. DO GOOD in this world. You never know who can use it. ❤️🩹
