We had so much fun the other night, going for a drive out to the Toad Lake Apple Orchard! We found out all the varieties of apples they grow and issues that some apples have. We learned about how to keep birds and bugs away from apple trees. They answered all our questions we could come up with. Some of us were adventuresome and took a ride on the barrel train. We were then treated to hot apple crisp and ice cream. What a treat that was! On the drive home we were able to witness this beautiful scene of Toad Lake. Thanks Toad Lake Apple Orchard for hosting us and treating us so special. We won't soon forget this outing.

What a wonderful afternoon out we had at Jaspers Theatre recently! We sang along, reminisced about some of the songs and laughed at the antics of the actors. It was such a pleasure to get to enjoy this production.

Prairie Belle Flower Farm came in and did a flower arranging class with our residents. It was so fun to pick the flowers out that we liked and learn how to arrange them. All of our dining room tables were able to have an arrangement on them for us to enjoy. Thanks to Leading Edge Mechanical for helping to sponsor this event!

Heritage Communities had a fun day last week taste testing some homemade soups. A contest was held and residents got to taste test them all and vote for their favorite!

Heritage Community would like to wish Connie Preston the best on her retirement. She has been with Heritage for over 40 years. We celebrated her at her Retirement party on Thursday, July 31st! Enjoy and thank you for your service to Heritage and it's residents!

Mandatory Fun Outdoors is a non profit that provides unique outdoor experiences for Veterans. Sam came with her hunting dog and showed us all kinds of tricks and talents that her dog has. It was fun to see this unique dog from Germany and hear about it's background. We were able to give it commands and have her obey. We then gave her treats that she ate out of our hands. It was a great morning to be outside for this educational experience. Thanks, Sam, for coming and doing this demonstration for us!

We were blessed with the "Happy Scrappers" donating some wheelchair bags for our residents. These bags fit perfectly on the back handles of a wheelchair, so that we can put items in them when we are headed to a doctor's appointment or on an outing. No more trying to hold on to papers or things, while trying to push the wheelchair. Thanks so much for the donation Happy Scrappers!

We are so lucky that the 4th of July parade route is right in front of our building. Residents were able to sit in the shade and watch the parade. Some even dressed up in their red, white and blue for the occasion. We had family members come to enjoy the parade with their loved ones and even had three generations together.

We made these cute 4th of July table decorations. They were so easy to make-we dyed the rice in the morning and then let it dry and put them together in the afternoon. Our tables are so festive now.
