National Public Health Week is a week to recognize that everyone should lead healthier lives, irrespective of where they live, work, or come from. Since its founding in 1955, the initiative has become an important movement to highlight issues that can improve the health and happiness of a nation.

This week is also a chance to honor the public health workers who show up for us every day — and to advocate for policies and practices that promote good health for all.

American Diabetes Association Alert Day is on March 24th to raise awareness on the impact of diabetes and how important it is to know the risk for you. It encourages people to take a test to check their risk for diabetes, telling people to learn about their family history with diabetes, weight, and check for symptoms like excessive thirst and urination, being very hungry, blurry vision, and slow-healing cuts.

1 in 3 teens (12-17 years old) had pre-diabetes in 2023, a significant increase, but can be reversed with lifestyle changes if caught early. Additionally, teens with diabetes have higher risks of developing eating disorders. Remember to watch for signs of diabetes and take care of your health, both physical and mental!
