It’s a forest bathjng kind of week ☔️
There’s so much research now to back the idea that just looking at natural materials benefits your mental wellbeing, just that alone. There is then further research to show the benefits of taking time in nature in general, for the fact that trees release certain oils that also hugely benefit us so ‘the smell of the woods’ is quite literally a tonic in itself. This is all before you add in the benefits of just getting moving outside, being present in your environment and switching off from the fast-paced world we’re faced with.
We are made to live immersed in nature and what’s more, nature is designed to welcome us.
So if you feel a little off, a little claustrophobic, stifled, anxious, overwhelmed or all of the above -
Get outside your front door (that in itself is a huge start)
Go to the closest nature you can find, it could just be the local park, yet take the time to be there, be quiet, intentionally walk and intentionally breathe the air.
Bonus points if there is water nearby.
Lastly, if it’s raining out, maybe do it anyway?! Rain is such a huge barrier to the British public in any and all activities. Put in a coat, take an umbrella, be PREPARED to get wet. Maybe it’ll become less of annoyance and you might start to find the peace in that moment. We (and the world) need rain. I certainly feel a bit more space in my head since I stopped being pi**ed off about the rain.
