Meet Sharon, one of our dedicated therapists and clinical supervisor 🌿

Sharon brings a unique blend of compassion, experience, and authenticity to her work. As a trauma-informed clinician, she creates a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can feel understood and supported—no matter what they’re facing. With experience across a wide range of areas including relationships, substance use, domestic violence, legally involved populations, and personal growth, she meets clients where they are and helps guide meaningful change.

Known for her warm approach and sense of humor, Sharon believes therapy should feel approachable—and even a little light at times. She empowers clients to recognize their own ability to grow, offering guidance, insight, and the occasional gentle nudge along the way.

Sharon earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in 2013 and has since developed a deep passion not only for client care, but also for mentoring emerging therapists. In her role as a clinical supervisor, she’s excited to support the next generation of clinicians while continuing her work with clients.

She integrates a variety of evidence-based approaches tailored to each individual’s needs and offers both in-office and telehealth sessions for adults and couples.

Depression doesn’t look the same for everyone—and for many men and masculine individuals, it often goes unrecognized or misunderstood.

In this blog, our therapist Spencer explores how cultural expectations around masculinity can make it harder to acknowledge and express depression. Instead of showing up as sadness, depression may be masked by anger, risk-taking, or substance use—behaviors that are often more socially “acceptable,” but can lead to deeper disconnection and missed opportunities for support.

Rather than judging these behaviors at face value, Spencer highlights the importance of understanding what may be underneath them. When we shift from labeling reactions as “problems” to exploring their root causes, we create space for more compassionate, effective care.

The blog also emphasizes the role of psychoeducation and individualized treatment—helping people unpack the beliefs they’ve learned about emotions, strength, and vulnerability, and empowering them to decide what actually serves their well-being.

Ultimately, healing starts with awareness, support, and the freedom to redefine what strength really means.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Read more at raftcounseling.com/blog

Today we celebrate National Mental Health Provider Appreciation Day 💙

To every therapist, counselor, psychologist, social worker, and mental health professional—thank you. Thank you for holding space, for listening without judgment, and for showing up day after day for people navigating some of life’s hardest moments.

This work isn’t easy. It requires patience, compassion, resilience, and an incredible depth of care. And even when it may not always be seen, the impact you make is real and lasting.

If you’ve ever supported someone through their healing, helped them find hope, or simply reminded them they’re not alone—please know that matters more than words can express.

Today is for you. Take a moment to acknowledge the difference you make. You deserve appreciation, rest, and the same care you so freely give to others.

This week, we proudly celebrate National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

At our practice, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported. Mental health is just as important as physical health—and early care, compassion, and understanding can make a lifelong difference.

Let’s work together to:
✨ Break the stigma
✨ Encourage open conversations
✨ Support children in building resilience and confidence

To parents, caregivers, teachers, and communities: your presence matters more than you know. And to every child—we see your strength, your courage, and your potential.

If you or a child in your life needs support, we’re here to help.

May is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month 💛

At RAFT, we honor the strength, resilience, and vulnerability that come with motherhood. While this journey can be filled with love and joy, it can also bring challenges that are often unseen and unspoken.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or not like yourself—you are not alone, and you are not failing. Maternal mental health matters at every stage: pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.

This month, we’re committed to:
✨ Raising awareness
✨ Breaking the stigma
✨ Supporting moms and families with compassion and care

🌿 We’re also excited to offer The Breathing Room—a supportive workshop designed just for moms. In this space, you’ll practice mindfulness, learn practical coping skills, and take a moment to reconnect with yourself in a judgment-free environment.

You deserve support. You deserve to feel well. And reaching out is a powerful first step.

May is !

This May, Mental Health America is helping people have more good days by meeting them where they are, supporting them as whole people, and understanding that “good” is subjective. 💚

Let’s have more good days, together

New blog from Spencer! Vulnerability: Building Trust by Letting Go of Control 💙

Vulnerability isn’t weakness—it’s the foundation of real connection. In healthy relationships, a sense of safety allows us to open up, but that safety takes intention, trust, and time to build.

True vulnerability means choosing to share our inner world (thoughts, feelings, experiences) while also caring for what others share with us. This process—called self-disclosure—can feel risky because we can’t control how others will respond. But even when vulnerability isn’t met the way we hope, it doesn’t make us “too much” or unworthy—it just means that person may not fully understand us.

Vulnerability is also about reciprocation. It’s not about matching stories or oversharing—it’s about showing appreciation, curiosity, and acceptance when someone opens up to us. At the same time, it’s important to check our intentions: are we sharing to build connection, or seeking validation? Healthy vulnerability comes from a grounded sense of self, not a need to fill a gap.

There will be moments when vulnerability creates disconnect. In those situations, we can honor someone’s courage while still holding our boundaries through honest, compassionate communication.

At its core, vulnerability is a risk—but it’s also the gateway to belonging, intimacy, and stronger mental health. When practiced with intention, it deepens relationships and builds the support systems we need to navigate life.

Happy Earth Day 🌎💚

Today is a gentle reminder that caring for our planet and caring for ourselves go hand in hand. Just as nature thrives with nourishment, balance, and rest, so do we.

Whether it’s stepping outside for fresh air, listening to the wind in the trees, or simply pausing to appreciate the world around you, small moments in nature can have a powerful impact on your mental well-being.

Let’s honor this day by nurturing both the Earth and our inner worlds. 🌱

April is Stress Awareness Month 💙

Stress is something we all experience—but often, we don’t notice it until it’s already overwhelming. Learning to recognize the early signs can make a big difference in how we care for ourselves.

Here are a few ways to spot stress in your daily life:

• Physical signs: headaches, muscle tension, fatigue, trouble sleeping
• Emotional shifts: irritability, feeling overwhelmed, anxiety, or low mood
• Changes in thinking: difficulty concentrating, racing thoughts, constant worry
• Behavior patterns: withdrawing from others, changes in appetite, procrastination

If you’re noticing these signs, pause and check in with yourself. Ask: What might my mind and body be trying to tell me?

Awareness is the first step toward relief. This month, we invite you to slow down, tune in, and take your stress signals seriously.

You don’t have to navigate it alone—we’re here to help. 🤍
