“On Monday morning, I attended the 12% Gaming Grant Breakfast held at OdySea Aquarium where I was asked to provide the invocation and national anthem.

Within the SRPMIC gaming compact, 12% of gaming revenue goes towards charitable donations so every year they host a breakfast to thank all the foundations for their contributions towards their communities. Attendees got to hear from SRPMIC President Martin Havier and SRPMIC Councilman Jacob Butler. Photos could be taken with OdySea divers and we even got to meet a special guest Sedona, which is one of the penguins housed at the aquarium!

I want to thank for inviting me and for hosting such a fun breakfast! It was amazing to meet all the foundations and hear their own values and missions guided towards helping their communities. Sapo!”

“This past weekend the Miss Indian Arizona court got to travel to Tuba City, AZ for the Western Navajo Nation Fair.

We kicked off the weekend by participating in the parade early Saturday morning. While chilly, it was amazing to see the amount of people that came to watch the parade. Chloe, Hannah, and myself walked the parade route while passing out candy and water. This years theme was “Strength in Tradition, Unity in Community” which was felt all around, through the youth introducing themselves in their language and the overall welcoming atmosphere. We want to thank everyone that gave their well wishes and support while we step into these new roles. This was our first parade as a court it was truly unforgettable!

On Sunday, I got to walk around the surrounding art market and see all of the local and non local vendors. It is always important to support indigenous owned brands so I got to pick up a couple new shirts to add to my closet. After grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many food stands I headed over to the Tuuvi market side. Here I got to witness the beautiful Hopi culture as they had youth dance groups perform all throughout the day. I was given the opportunity to introduce myself to all those in attendance.

Being able to witness the youth express their beautiful cultures through language, song, and dance was so inspiring. I want to thank Western Navajo Fair Committee for inviting us to participate in all the events this weekend. I also would like to thank Tuba City for the warm welcome and hospitality. Sapo!”

“On Friday evening, I attended the Silver and Turquoise Ball held at Talking Stick Resort where I greeted and mingled with guests.

The Silver and Turquoise Ball is a gala held annually by Phoenix Indian Center to help raise funds for their programs throughout the year. Phoenix Indian Center serves to help indigenous youth and families that live in urban areas stay connected to their culture and offer different types of necessary services. In attendance were not only tribal leaders and dignitaries but also federal leaders like AZ Governor Katie Hobbs and AZ Senator Ruben Gallego.

The theme was “Unity in Community, Thriving Together” in which the night was about uplifting indigenous voices. Dinner was prepared by Chef Ben Jacobs who is a member of the Osage Nation of Oklahoma. Leon Grant Spirit of the Community Honoree was Linda Benally who is a member of the Navajo Nation and was given the award based on her dedication towards serving her community. I want to thank for inviting me and for putting on such a great event that funds programs that continue to help serve our indigenous communities. Sapo!”
