February is a challenging month for mental health, often marked by the peak of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) due to limited sunlight, cold weather, and post-holiday letdown.

Seek Light: Use light therapy boxes or take advantage of sunny days to boost mood.

Stay Active: Engage in 150 minutes of weekly moderate activity, such as walking or winter sports.

Connect Socially: Counteract loneliness by connecting with friends and family, or participating in social activities.

Practice Self-Care: Incorporate mindfulness, meditation, or journaling into daily routines.

Set Realistic Goals: Focus on small, achievable steps rather than high-pressure resolutions.

Let's celebrate Black History Month!

Black History Month serves as a critical period to address the intersection of racial history, systemic barriers, and mental health within the Black community.

Understanding Black mental health requires acknowledging how historical trauma and systemic racism have shaped current experiences.

A few facts:
There are higher Risk: Black adults are 20% more likely to report serious psychological distress than white adults.

Only 1 in 3 Black adults who need mental health care receive it, often due to cost, lack of insurance, or a shortage of Black providers.

Su***de attempts among Black teenagers are approximately 34% higher than among white teenagers.

A NAMI report found that 63% of Black people believe having a mental health condition is a sign of personal weakness.
