Today we acknowledge and celebrate the lasting impact of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and work. While his legacy is not something that can be contained within a single day, let alone a single social media post, it is important that we all use this time to reflect on Dr. King's inspirational, non-violent leadership, his integral role in the Civil Rights movement, and the positive effect he had on the future of the United States.

MUST HAVE HISTORY OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE, 2+ YEARS OF ACTIVE SOBRIETY and COMPLETION OF A SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT PROGRAM

Using life experience with behavioral health issues and/or substance abuse recovery, Peer Recovery Support Specialists guide, coach, and mentor others who are working towards recovery. Use personal experience of recovery to help SJRC clients. Share coping strategies, wellness tools and other resources. Work on a residential treatment unit or in the community on our mobile clinics, helping clients to achieve recovery goals by reinforcing the care plan, maintaining order within the unit, developing positive life skills, and new coping strategies to maintain long term sobriety. Assist therapists and providers in helping members to identify socio-economic issues that affect their overall health and develop health/social management plans and goals. Suggest approaches that encourage patients to participate in wellness and recovery activities at a pace that is comfortable for them.

Background Experience:

Exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail required.
2-3 years’ experience in community/residential/outpatient setting working with members in a mental health or substance use setting is preferred but not required.
Experience using a computer and strong keyboard navigation skills including the use of MS Office Suite.
If not certified, completion of a Certified Peer Support Training Program is required within 3 months from start date
Peer Support Specialist Certification through WV DHHR is preferred.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Additional Job Information:

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to educate health care providers as needed to adjust interventions based on member’s cultural, ethnic, or religious preferences.
Knowledge of formal and informal community agencies and resources. Working knowledge of multi-system outreach programs related to health care delivery, clinical education, and health-related services.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and manage multiple priorities, utilizes effective time management skills, and exercise sound judgment.

St. Joseph Recovery Center will begin accepting appointments at our new Summersville location on Monday, June 21st. Services offered will be Residential treatment for substance abuse and mental health, Crisis Stabilization, Outpatient treatment and Mobile services. St. Joseph Recovery Center is an established provider of comprehensive, patient-centered Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health treatment. In our mission to make our life changing services available to more West Virginians in need, we are opening a new location. The main office for St. Joseph Recovery Center- Central Division will be in the former WV DHHR office, located along US Route 19 in Summersville, WV. The central division office will provide 12 beds for Withdrawal Management (Detox) as well as Outpatient and Mobile Outpatient services. Our mobile units based out of the Parkersburg office are making a huge impact on recovery in Wood and surrounding counties in West Virginia. We are excited to bring this service to communities in central West Virginia (Nicholas, Webster, Clay, Greenbrier, Braxton, Lewis and Kanawha). We currently have 86 residential beds for men and women at our facility in Parkersburg, giving our patients access to all levels of care as needed.

St. Joseph Recovery Center is seeking experienced therapists to provide individual and group therapy for adults with Substance Use Disorder. Residential and Outpatient setting. Experience in substance abuse is preferred, but not required.

Required Credentials:
*Possess a Master's Degree in an approved Human Service Related Field (i.e. Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, etc.)
*WV License preferred but not required (ie. LPC, LGSW, LICSW, LCSW, LSW).
*Two years’ experience in treating alcohol and substance abuse (and/or AADC Certification) is preferred.

Job Requirements:
*Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
*Organized and self-motivated.
*Strong documentation skills.
*Effective time management
*Collaboration with other professionals to provide continuity of care.
*Abide by NASW and other specific licensure Code of Ethics.
*Must abide by WV Medicaid policies and procedures related to billing and provision of services.
*Flexible schedule.
