Are You Protected From Your Health Insurance “Gaps”?

No matter what kind of health insurance you have—Medicare, an employer plan, or even an ACA plan—there are some important things you must look out for. We call these the “gaps,” and they can catch almost anyone off guard.

The Big “Gaps” to Watch:
1. Premiums: Your regular monthly cost, but this only scratches the surface!
2. Max Out-of-Pocket Limits: The most you’ll pay in a year for covered services. Once you hit this number, your insurance pays 100%. But getting there can hurt your wallet!
3. Daily Hospital Copay (Days 1-5): Many plans charge you a set fee for the first several days you’re hospitalized.
4. Medical Deductibles (including ER visits): Out-of-pocket costs before the insurance picks up the rest.

These numbers change every year—sometimes by a lot! That’s why it’s so important to make sure your plan still fits your needs and to regularly review your coverage.

How Can You Quickly Cover These Gaps?
- Critical Illness Policy: Pays you a lump sum if you’re diagnosed with a serious condition. Use this to cover your max out-of-pocket costs.
- Hospital Indemnity Plan: Pays you cash for each day you’re hospitalized (especially for those expensive first 1-5 days).
- And the Biggest Gap: Long-Term Care
No health insurance fully covers a long-term nursing or rehab stay. Make sure you understand your options here—it’s often the most expensive “gap” of all.

The Takeaway:
Don’t just “set and forget” your health plan. Take a few minutes each year to go over your hospital copays, max out-of-pocket limits, and possible gaps—and consider some simple policies to protect your finances. A little time now can save you a lot of money and stress later!

If you haven’t had someone do this yet for you this year I can almost guarantee I can save you money somewhere.
What I Do:

- Medicare Education:
I explain how Medicare works, including changes to deductibles and premiums each year.

- Plan Comparison:
I compare Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans with Medicare Advantage plans, and review how these options change annually.

- Prescription Coverage Review:
I calculate what your prescription medication costs will be for the year under different plans.

- Provider Network Check:
I check to make sure your primary care doctor and specialists are in network, and I strive to reduce your out-of-pocket costs for visits, sometimes down to $0.

- Benefits Review:
I ensure your plan covers the benefits you’re looking for, including vision, dental, and hearing.

Hey!
I wanted to tell you about a crazy good critical illness (CI) policy—it’s honestly a no-brainer. Not only does it secure your health, but it also works as a savings tool.

Here’s a example of how it works:

- Coverage: For around $24.51/month (non-to***co), you get $20,000 in coverage for major illnesses like cancer. If you’re ever diagnosed, you get a lump sum payout of $20,000 to use however you need.
- Savings Benefit: If you never need to use the policy over 20 years, you get all your premiums back—close to $6,000! It’s like guaranteed savings if you stay healthy.
- No Money Lost: Think about it—we all pay for insurance on our phones, cars, and homes, and if we don’t make a claim, that money is just gone. With this CI plan, if you don’t use it, you get your money back after 20 years.
- Affordable: These plans are genuinely affordable, especially compared to what we pay for other types of insurance we rarely or never claim on.

If you use to***co the rate is a bit higher, but the value stays the same.
It’s kind of a steal: either you get paid out when you need it, or you save up a nice amount to get back later.

Let me know if you want to see a no-obligation quote or have questions!
