Famous March 2022, August 2022, and January 2023. It’s actually kind of hard to tell in these photos but March of last year Famous was diagnosed with cushings, comparable to diabetes in humans, which caused him to hold on to his winter coat, not be able to hold weight, seriously he was skin and bones and smelled horrible, urinate frequently, CONSTANTLY acted like he was hungry, low energy, didn’t interact with the other horses, poor skin and coat, and just overall an unhappy horse. With his diagnosis the vet put him on a medication that helped with his hunger and weight gain but caused ataxic, dizzy or unstable, behavior and made him even more lethargic than he was before. I knew I needed to do something different for him so with the help of our vet and a couple professors of mine, I was able to find an herbal concoction and put together a diet that has worked WONDERS for him! We weaned him off his medication and he is absolutely thriving! He has become the boss of the herd, is holding weight, has life back in his eyes, has the best looking coat on the ranch, and has the spunkiest fun personality. He was a super fun case study and I’m so thankful that I have an amazing vet team that enjoyed learning with me. He will have his labs re-run in March but as of September our vet has zero concerns about him where last March we were talking through quality of life. Treat the body as a whole not just the symptoms
