One of my favorite reminders as a speech-language pathologist: communication doesn't just grow during story time or structured learning activities—it grows through movement, play, and exploration, too.
When children climb, balance, crawl, jump, pretend, and explore their world, they're building so much more than motor skills. They're strengthening attention, body awareness, imitation, problem-solving, social engagement, and the foundations for language.
The good news? You don't need elaborate activities to support development. Everyday moments—playing at the park, walking on a curb, building a fort, dancing in the living room, or reading a favorite book together—create meaningful opportunities for connection and communication.
Play matters. Movement matters. And those small moments together add up in big ways.
