Thinking about Georgie Rodiger today on her birthday and all she taught me in our work together as therapists.
A Masters in Divinity and a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psych, she understood the intersection of spirituality and psychology like nobody else I've ever known.
Sitting in her clinical supervision was an honor.
She formed me as a therapist more than any other person I've worked with.
Happy birthday, Georgie.
We all miss you...

My lovely wife Ruthie bought me a new office couch for Christmas! My old couch was done; worn and torn, covered and taped. It had taken the toll of 8 years as a living room couch, 2 years of daily private practice therapy sessions, as well as an ongoing pounding as a window-based home security monitoring station from Zeke, our rotti-pitt puppy.
My beautiful new post-modern couch will be a luxurious and comfortable addition to my office.
Now the kicker:
Hauling the old couch to the street this morning to put on the curb, it struck me how this couch had been such an integral part of my therapy practice over the years, providing both soft protection and solid support for close to 100 clients over those 2 years. It held my body, my wife's body, those of my step-children, friends, family and other visiting guests ...
It struck me at the curb that this couch is not only a peice of furniture but a peice of my life. So we said an official thank you and goodbye prayer to a big part of our past and that of many peoole who may not have noticed at the time what held the weight of their tears, their struggles, their breakthroughs and their strengthening.
Did I cry as we prayed it goodbye? If you know ME, you know the answer ... 😘
