Happy Monday! How is your mindset today? Are you starting your week stuck in the same limiting self-talk, or are you giving yourself some space to learn, grow, and try new things?
As it turns out, in the nutrition coaching process, ultimate success for a client has a lot less to do with what they eat, and a lot more to do with how they think. So, don't underestimate the power of your own thoughts and mindset.

Are you "all or nothing" when it comes to healthier eating or following a diet commitment? Well guess what? That approach is NOT EFFECTIVE. Based on research and observational data from my own nutrition coaching practice, NO ONE is able to sustain a strict "all or nothing" diet approach. What actually works is a sustainable, enjoyable approach that prioritizes whole nutrient dense foods, lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and the occasional not-so-healthy treat that is always going to be a part of life.

Wait, what? 35% of all adults in the U.S.-- about half of all Americans-- say they feel sleepy during the day anywhere from three to seven times a week. This doesn't have to be you! Taking steps to improve your sleep quality can be as simple as adding a few action steps to your day that will help improve your sleep hygiene, and therefor improve your sleep. Nagging cravings and constant hunger feedback can really be a drag! Many of my clients who experience this feel bad about themselves because they think that they are just “undisciplined.” 😣

In reality, it’s a question of giving your body the right mix of nutrients and fiber, in just the right amounts. Once that is handled, the cravings and unhealthy eating behaviors can diminish greatly. As a matter of fact, almost all of our clients report increased satiety levels and reduction or even complete elimination of cravings as they work through the nutrition coaching process. This proves that overcoming cravings is TOTALLY WITHIN REACH and something you can control.

I am so inspired by this client, who when we met, had been told by his doctor that if he "didn't start taking Mounjaro weight loss injections, he was going to die!" He made a personal choice not to go with the drugs, and instead made a commitment to learn healthier habits and behaviors.
With the help of the InBody data, we've been able to empower him with the quantitative data and the tools necessary to create the change he so badly needed.
He is doing great and well on his way to living in a healthy, happy body.
This proves once again that we have a lot more control over our health outcomes than we give ourselves credit for.
Be sure and read the part about how he could barely get himself to move, yet still tried moving a little bit each day, and how that lead to a huge reduction in body fat!
I hope this case study inspires you as much as it has inspired me.

It’s Foodie Friday! Yeah!
Here is a healthier twist on pudding- and this one is totally plant based for all you vegans and strictly plant based eaters out there! 🤗
You can turn this into a higher protein, vegetarian option by using Skyr or Greek yogurt and dairy milk in place of the soy yogurt and soy milk. Or, use whatever your favorite milk or milk substitute is, for that matter. I personally love the “Good Karma” flax milk, because it delivers 5g of protein for serving, with healthy fats from flaxseeds.
Remember to make these recipes your own by experimenting and having fun in the kitchen. Healthy doesn’t have to be hard!

Did you know that your day to day surroundings have an impact on your behavioral outcomes? Yes it's true! What you keep in your kitchen, or your car, what restaurants you frequent, even the people you hang out with, can heavily influence your eating choices.

One extremely powerful, foundational skill that we teach in my nutrition coaching room is how to create and maintain a supportive environment.

The idea is to keep your ideal foods-- the ones that you know work best for you and support your goals-- easy to access and easy to prepare. This does NOT mean purging your kitchen of all "bad foods." It DOES mean deciding which healthier foods, and which less healthy treats you want to keep around, and setting up your surroundings in a way that supports you to do more of the healthier eating you are going for. That way, when you get hungry and it's time to eat, you can simply execute, without having to think too hard.

Give some of these tips a try and see if you can design and optimize your environment to better support you goals.
Healthy doesn't have to be hard. You've totally got this!

Failure! That word is so misunderstood. Keep in mind that failure typically lives in the past. So, what can you do with something in the past? 1) Dwell on it and let it beat you up, 2) Let it go completely, 3) Use the experience as a helpful 'data point' and learn from the experience.
True failure really only exists when one makes the choice to give up altogether. That means that you actually have more control over the situation than you might be giving yourself credit for. How does your mindset shape your perception of failure? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
