Diets can work great...until they stop working. Then what? In reality, healthy living and sustaining the healthiest version of yourself possible is a life skill...or set of skills...if you will. The key is to make healthy habits and behaviors a regular, enjoyable part of your life!

How about heading up to the mountains to support the Mt. Baldy Fire Department?
As many of you know, I serve as a volunteer firefighter & first responder on this all-volunteer, awesome little fire department.
Every year we have a super rad fundraiser to raise some money, get the community together, and hang out with visitors, all in one place, under a beautiful, Southern California summer night sky.

The fun includes bbq dinner served by a firefighter, bar with craft beer, live entertainment, and a raffle.

Happy Monday! How is your mindset today? Are you feeling ahead of the many triggers, thoughts, and emotions that are coming your way? Or not so much? Having a few tools and strategies on hand, like taking deep breaths, doing a 'mind body scan,' or taking a short walk, can make a big difference in how you handle and respond to the stressors of your day.
Mindset plays a huge role in getting to those health and fitness goals, because your mind plays such a powerful role in your day to day choices and behaviors. With that, see if you can get cognitively ahead of the day's obstacles, so that when you have those unhelpful thoughts or feelings, you can give your mind and body what they need to cope.

Guess what? There is no "good" or "bad" in nutrition. There are merely FACTS...nutrition data to be specific. How that data affects you is going to be different from how it affects someone else. Too often I see clients who are trying to "eat perfectly" and go "all or nothing." This works great for a while, but when it comes to maintaining, the problems start to pop up.

That's because 'less-healthy' foods are always going to be there...in life, at parties, on holidays. And frankly, sometimes a trip to the fast food drive through is your only option. In these circumstances, it's better to know how to do your best (while enjoying every bite) and NOT make it a "BAD MEAL." 🤔

Learning how to work with what you have, how to enjoy all foods mindfully; and knowing when and how much to enjoy them is an essential part of healthy living mastery.

A good start would be to try using a "most of the time, some of the time" (or 80%/20%) approach to your eating. Stick to foods you know support your goals most of the time, enjoy foods that don't some of the time. Try not to use labels like "cheat meals" or "slip up." Instead, let it unfold organically, while making an effort to be aware of your eating behaviors and giving yourself permission to know what's best in the moment.

Mastering a healthy lifestyle is NOT about "avoiding bad foods. It's ALL ABOUT enjoying your meals, while making sure there is good balance and nutrition in the mix. I am so inspired by this client, who when we met, had been told by his doctor that if he "didn't start taking Mounjaro weight loss injections, he was going to die!" He made a personal choice not to go with the drugs, and instead made a commitment to learn healthier habits and behaviors.
With the help of the InBody data, we've been able to empower him with the quantitative data and the tools necessary to create the change he so badly needed.
He is doing great and well on his way to living in a healthy, happy body.
This proves once again that we have a lot more control over our health outcomes than we give ourselves credit for.
Be sure and read the part about how he could barely get himself to move, yet still tried moving a little bit each day, and how that lead to a huge reduction in body fat!
I hope this case study inspires you as much as it has inspired me.
