Mobility Service Dogs - West Coast Project

Mobility Service Dogs - West Coast Project Mobility Service Dogs-West Coast Project advances FUNctional independence for people with disabilities through service dogs, education, and empowerment.

VISION
Our vision is for the mobility-impaired community to live full, vibrant lives and achieve FUNctional independence with or without a canine companion's assistance. We seek to create a user-friendly pathway for all people with mobility challenges.

_______________

CORE VALUES
MSD-WCP values independence, reliability, bond-based puppy rearing, demonstrating empathy, hosting meetups to assist with all mobility needs, and connecting humans to canines. We offer support to embrace your best living.

_______________

GOALS
We provide wellness training, education, and support to mobility-impaired individuals to help them navigate and overcome the many obstacles they encounter daily. In addition, MSD-WCP plays a key role in the community by educating what a service dog team is.

_______________

OUR DOGS
MSD-WCP raises, trains, and matches poodles with mobility-impaired individuals. We rehome poodles donated from breeders and rescue agencies whose priorities are their dogs' health, temperament, and working ability. Only a remarkable canine can become a service dog. In training, we only use loving positive reinforcement in socializing, playing, training, handling, doggie-fun, educating, and tasking our dogs! As a result, they love learning and working; happy dogs make the best service dogs!

_______________

OUR EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS
In our educational programs, PAWS that Empower, Reading Circles, and WAG, we introduce the importance of Equality for All. Our goal is to give each person knowledge and confidence to open discussions regarding perceived differences, creating conversations stepping forward. Additionally, MSD-WCP supports the educational process in schools, businesses, and the community as we teach vital living skills.

Happy Thanksgiving!
A Message from Our CEO and Founder:
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday and the end of the year, we at MobilityDog have been reflecting on the many blessings and successes we’ve experienced, and we want to share our deepest gratitude. We are incredibly grateful for so much this year, and we couldn’t have achieved our goals without the unwavering support of individuals like you.

I’m grateful for every shared moment with family, friends, and the many wonderful people who bring love, laughter, and light into our lives. Your presence is a gift I carry in my heart.

To the volunteers, funders, SD/SDiT Teams, partners, and collaborators who uplift MobilityDog with such heart and dedication, thank you. Your belief in our mission powers our work and makes every step forward possible.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being a vital part of the MobilityDog family. Wishing you and yours a joyful holiday season and a happy new year.

With deep gratitude,

Janie Heinrich

Meet Natalie & Roxy

When Natalie Fung was 21, her life took a dramatic turn, when she was injured in a car accident that was caused by a drunk driver. She was left paralyzed. She not only had to navigate a new world physically, but emotionally as well, redefining independence, ambition, and what it meant to move through life on her own terms.

Today, she is a proud graduate of USC, with a master’s degree in Communication Data Science. Natalie is an advocate for accessibility and a powerful voice in the disability community. But alongside her academic and professional achievements is a more personal transformation, one that began the day she was paired with her MobilityDog service dog, Roxy.

“Roxy became my service dog when I started graduate school, and I am so thankful to MobilityDog for pairing us together,” Natalie shares. “Not only did we bond immediately, but Roxy has allowed me to achieve a level of independence that I previously thought was not possible. Before having a service dog, I never left the house without another person. Now, Roxy and I run errands together, go shopping, and take public transportation, just the two of us. Thank you to MobilityDog for introducing me to my best friend and partner-in-crime!” - Natalie

We’re honored to spotlight Natalie and Roxy, a true testament to the transformative power of service dogs and the community that makes these life changing partnerships possible.
