Look who else will be presenting at tomorrow's Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland conference? Dr. Rachel Jordan has a passion for educating the community and providers on progressive illness and has dedicated her career to patient-centered care. Again, we are so proud of our professional care team who so willingly share their expertise.

Our conference speakers are leaders in hospice, palliative care, and beyond — sharing insights that honor tradition while shaping the future of compassionate care.

Check out today’s Speaker Spotlight, Dr. Rachel Jordan who will be presenting "Caring for Those Living with Serious Illness" in our Serious Illness Track. More details on sessions here: https://www.hnmd.org/events/EventDetails.aspx?id=1985814&group=

It is a great source of pride for us to have many of our team share their expertise with other providers. We are proud to see Steve Watson leading a session at tomorrow's Hospice & Palliative Care Network of Maryland's conference. Especially fitting during National Hospice Month, when educating our communities about hospice care is part of our mission. Thank you, Steve!

Tomorrow is our Annual Conference and we are pleased that Steve Watson is joining us again to present in our PsychoSocial/Spiritual/Bereavement Track.

💛 Happy Volunteer Managers Day! 💛

Behind every smiling volunteer, there’s a team making it all possible — training, scheduling, supporting, and cheering them on every step of the way. That’s Ashley, Josh, LaShan, Heather and Alena!

Because of their dedication and care, our volunteers can bring comfort, companionship, and joy to patients and families — helping everyone have more good days. During National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we’re sending extra gratitude to this amazing team who keeps the heart of our volunteer program beating strong.

Caring for someone you love is a profound act of devotion.

It can bring moments of deep connection and joy — and it can also come with stress, worry, and emotional exhaustion.

At Hospice of the Chesapeake, we’re here to walk alongside you, the caregiver. With expert support, kind-hearted volunteers, and trusted community partners, we offer care not just for patients, but for the people who love them.

Our hope is to create space for caregivers to rest, reflect, and care for themselves — so families can share more meaningful days together.

To every family caregiver who gives so much of themselves each day: you are seen, you are appreciated, and you are never alone. Let us help you have more good days.

💙November is National Care at Home Month 💙

At Hospice of the Chesapeake, caring for patients wherever they call home — where they feel safe, supported, and most at peace — is at the heart of what we do.

Thanks to the support of our many community partners — including OnSite Medical Calls, Southern Maryland House Calls, and Partners In Care, Inc. — more patients and families are experiencing comfort, connection and more good days together.

This November, let’s take time to reflect on what truly makes a day meaningful.

It’s National Hospice and Palliative Care Month — a time to honor the care that helps people live each day with comfort, dignity, and connection.

Throughout the month, we’ll share stories and insights to deepen our community’s understanding of hospice care. It’s not about giving up — it’s about embracing more good days with the people who matter most.

At Hospice of the Chesapeake, we believe that when care begins early, patients and families gain precious time to focus on what truly matters.

Follow along as we shine a light on how hospice helps us live more fully, together.

When Perry Platt joined Hospice of the Chesapeake, she thought it might be a short stop on her nursing journey. Instead, she found her calling.

“I think everything I was looking for in a career, I really found here,” she said. Now, as Clinical Manager at the Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center, Perry leads with warmth, humor, and a deep love for her team.

Outside of work, she finds joy in family, her cats and a good game of Dungeons & Dragons. 🐾🎲

We’re so grateful for the compassion and leadership Perry brings to our Hospice of the Chesapeake family every day. 💙

There were so many new faces to include in this week’s New Team member photo, we had to go to the Michael Stanley Children’s Garden to fit them all in! We are so happy to have so many talented, skilled and caring professionals joining our growing team. Meet our new social workers, nurses, a chaplain, a CNA and a nurse practitioner. Please give them a warm welcome to the Hospice of the Chesapeake family by leaving them a message in the comments.
