Seeing a therapist is still so stigmatized in our society. It's something that some hide from friends and family as they feel so much shame around getting help. Therapy is a mental & emotional workout. Just as we go to the gym every week to keep our body strong, and we take our car in for service to keep it running well, why not see a therapist to keep your mind strong.

"The body's intelligence is largely an untapped resource in psychotherapy, yet the story told by the "somatic narrative"—gesture, posture, prosody, facial expressions, eye-gaze, and movement—is arguably more significant than the story told by words." Pat Ogden and Janina Fisher

For the first time in 40 years, the FDA has approved a new medication for Schizophrenia.

For the past 70 years, schizophrenia treatments all targeted the same chemical: dopamine. While that works for some, it causes brutal side effects for others. An antipsychotic drug approved last month by the FDA changes that. It triggers muscarinic receptors instead of dopamine receptors. The drug i...

Welcome!

Hi, I’m Sandi and I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#112620), supervised and employed by Chris Tickner, LMFT (#42576), who sees adults, adolescents/tweens, and couples/families. Within my therapeutic practice I believe that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to psychotherapy. I work psychodynamically and integrate other modalities when appropriate which can include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and somatic based approaches. My specialties include Complex Trauma/PTSD, Childhood Trauma, Addiction, Depression, Anxiety, Mood/Personality Disorders, and Suicidal Ideation/Self Harm. As your therapist, I will collaborate with you at your own pace. Together we will discover the thoughts and emotions driving you and learn new ways of coping. We will explore what is underneath the unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behavior and begin the healing process.

Like many of my clients, I’ve had a long and winding journey full of ups and downs to arrive at today, to this moment. After a number of life transitions, and a thirty year career in the entertainment business, I made the decision to follow my passion of helping people, a passion that I’ve had since I was a teenager, and return to school to become a therapist. I feel that my skills and life experience help me meet my clients wherever they are and enable me to hold whatever comes up in our sessions together. I’m deeply attuned, highly empathetic, playful & funny, compassionate, irreverent, deeply thoughtful, insightful, non-judgmental, and humble.

Are you finding yourself unsure of where to turn in life? That coping mechanisms which once worked for you no longer are? Do you struggle to find a connection to yourself or others? Do you find yourself still struggling with things that happened long ago and you don't understand why? Having the courage to work on one’s relationship to self and others can be powerful, deeply healing and perhaps one of the most loving actions one can do. Let me join with you on your journey.
