On March 10, Oceans Behavioral Hospital – Pasadena hosted a “Coffee with the Counselors” event alongside parents at Bondy Intermediate, creating space for open conversation around youth mental health.
During the session, we shared resources available to support children and families, while also discussing how parents can recognize the signs of a mental health crisis and take meaningful steps to support their child.
We are grateful for opportunities like this to connect with families, strengthen partnerships with schools and ensure our community has access to the tools and support needed to navigate mental health with confidence and care.

Oceans Behavioral Hospital - Pasadena CEO, Shamieka Thomas, recently had the opportunity to visit Grand Canyon University in Phoenix last week to meet with university leadership and participate in conversations around the future of the behavioral health workforce.
During the conference, we discussed the university’s new behavioral health scholarship initiative, ongoing staffing challenges across the industry, and ways academic institutions can partner with behavioral health hospitals to better support the next generation of professionals entering the field.
Collaboration between healthcare systems and universities is essential as we work to strengthen the behavioral health workforce and ensure communities have access to the care they need.
Thank you to the team at Grand Canyon University for the invitation and for your commitment to supporting behavioral health professionals.
