Growing up, Draven didn’t feel different – he walked, played and lived his life like all the other kids. Others might have noticed a difference in his walk, but it never bothered him. “This is just how it is,” he remembers thinking. It wasn’t until he got older that he began to feel anxious about his surgeries. The waiting and the anticipation felt like forever, especially because he was old enough to understand. POSNA is proud to celebrate Selina P**n, MD, MPH for being named the 2026 JRGOS President’s Health Equity Award recipient!

This award honors leaders who advance equity in orthopaedic care and work to address health care disparities through research, innovation, service, and leadership.

Dr. P**n, a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon at Shriners Children’s Southern California, exemplifies these values through her dedication to culturally responsive care, inclusion, education, and clinical and academic excellence. Her work — spanning early-onset scoliosis, spinal deformity, limb deformity, and clubfoot — is matched by her national leadership and service, including board roles with both JRGOS and POSNA.

Her career reflects a deep commitment to improving care for all children and strengthening our field through purpose-driven leadership.
