Strides offers adaptive riding, hippotherapy, services for veterans and first responders as well as private lessons to the Tri-Cities, WA community.

Strides Therapeutic Horsemanship Center offers adaptive riding, hippotherapy (through our partnership with Kadlec), and private lessons to the Tri-Cities, WA and surrounding communities. Riders come from throughout the greater Columbia Basin area to interact with their 1,000 pound "therapist" in a safe and secure environment while achieving goals that they never before dreamed possible. Our focus is not on their limitations, but what they can do, and the results are extraordinary.

💔 Strides Is Closing – Asset Info Below 💔

After 19 years of heartfelt service to our community, Strides Therapeutic Horsemanship Center is closing its doors.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we've received from riders, families, volunteers, and donors over the years. You've helped us change lives through the power of horses, and we carry that legacy with deep pride and gratitude.

As we move forward with the closing process, we’ve received many inquiries about remaining assets. While items are not yet available, we anticipate they will be ready for dispersal after mid-July.

Strides Asset Dispersal Announcement

As part of our closure process, all remaining assets at Strides Therapeutic Horsemanship Center are now available for purchase.

Available items include:

A 2 year old large Noble Panel outdoor arena

An older Noble Panel round pen

An older aluminum Wheelchair mounting ramp

12 draft-sized horse shelters

An older tractor and harrow (great for dragging the arena)

Tack and equine equipment

Barn and farm supplies

Program-related gear

All proceeds will go first toward settling our remaining debts. Any remaining funds will then be donated to another 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission aligns with the values and heart of Strides.

If you’re interested in any items or would like more information, please reach out directly. We are committed to finding meaningful new homes for everything that helped bring our mission to life.

🐴 Update on Our Herd 🐴

Since announcing the upcoming closure of Strides, we’ve been overwhelmed by the kindness and support pouring in from our community.

We want to share that all of our horses have found loving homes—either returning to previous owners or being thoughtfully placed with new ones who understand their unique needs and value their service.

💔 After 19 Years, Strides is Saying Goodbye 💔

With heavy hearts, we announce that Strides Therapeutic Horsemanship Center will be closing its doors.

On June 18, 2025, our board made this incredibly difficult decision after years of financial hardship. While we’ve done everything in our power to continue serving the community, we’ve been unable to secure the consistent funding and partnerships needed to stay open.

Operating at full capacity costs nearly $10,000/month—and in recent years, our support has dropped to less than half that. Like many small nonprofits, we’ve struggled to bounce back in a changing financial and political climate.

But through it all, you—our riders, families, volunteers, donors, and supporters—have been the heart of Strides. 💙
You helped people find confidence, strength, and healing.
You gave our horses purpose.
You changed lives.

As we begin the process of dissolving Strides and responsibly rehoming our horses and assets, we do so with deep pride in all we’ve accomplished since 2006.

What a Day! 🧼🐴
Today was our annual Horse Spa Day at Strides—and it was a huge success!

We had so much fun welcoming the public to help us pamper our hardworking therapy horses with well-deserved bubble baths. Now our herd is squeaky clean, shiny, and feeling fabulous!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out and joined the fun—and a special shoutout to our amazing volunteers. We couldn't have done it without you!
