After intense physical activity a little "calming" breath work goes a long way toward helping your body and brain transition from a more sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight) back into a more parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest).

After intense exercise and your body is in a "๐™›๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ-๐™ค๐™ง-๐™›๐™ก๐™ž๐™œ๐™๐™ฉ" state:
๐Ÿซ€ - heart rate is increased,
๐Ÿซ - breathing is rapid and shallow,
๐Ÿซฃ - cortisol and adrenaline levels are up!

You don't build muscle in this state. Your body is worried about survival, not maintenance of it's tissues!

Swap the usual ingredients for a combo of Greek yogurt + bread flour and end up with a soft bagel that's ๐˜ด๐˜ฐ๐˜ง๐˜ต, ๐˜ค๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ๐˜ธ๐˜บ, and packed with protein ๐Ÿคค

๐Ÿ”น 1 2/3 cup of bread flour or all-purpose flour
๐Ÿ”น 2/3 cup Greek Yogurt (2% works best)
๐Ÿ”น 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
๐Ÿ”น 1/2 - 1 tsp salt to taste

๐Ÿ”น 1 egg or egg white for wash on bagel and top with your favorite toppings!

Knead the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl until well combined and then separate out into equal sized dough balls, roll into a log and meet the ends and you'll have a perfectly formed bagel!

โฒ๏ธ Bake in the oven at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes or throw 2-3 bagels in your air fryer at 280 for 15-20 minutes.

Studies have shown the skill of power decreases faster with aging than strength does. So that makes it even more important to practice and improve.

Here are a few easy, yet effective exercises that we utilize at Athlon within our programs to reenforce / develop the skill of power:

2) MB Chest Pass ๐Ÿ’ช,

3) Squat Jumps ๐Ÿฆ˜,

4) Lateral Line Hops ๐Ÿ‡.

It's important to be intentional when practicing these exercises to get the true benefit and elicit that BIG power stimulus. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Keep the reps low (3-5) with lots of rest between sets. And again, BE INTENTIONAL AND EXPLOSIVE WITH EVERY REP!
