Urdhva Dhanurasana • Upward Facing Bow

Also known as Wheel pose. There are three common ways to get into this pose.

Start in Svasana (Co**se Pose) laying on your back. Bend your knees and plant your feet firmly on the ground. Raise your arms up, bend at the elbow and let the palms of your hands touch the ground on either side of your head. Engage your core and buttock muscles as you lift your torso off the ground, pressing into your hands and feet.
Start in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) standing with your feet hips width distance apart. Reach your arms up and engage your core and quadriceps. Begin to bend backward at the hip. Lower your hands down to the floor and allow the palms to rest on the ground.
Start in Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand Pose). Engage the core and quadriceps. Lower your feet toward the ground until they touch the floor.

Benefits:
✨Improve spinal mobility
✨Open the heart
✨Ignite your chakras
✨Increase blood circulation
✨Stretch the lungs to maximize the intake of oxygen

Pro Tip 💥 walk your hands closer to your feet to get a deeper stretch (of course only if it feels comfortable for you).

Adho Mukha Svanasan • Downward Facing Dog Pose

*Pictured here is a 12 month old performing a variation of this pose called Three-Legged Dog where you lift one leg into the air.

Begin standing with feet hip distance apart. Slowly fold forward, bringing your hands to the ground. Walk your hands forward until you body makes an upside down V shape. Heels may naturally pull from the ground. Once here, engage your core muscles and press down into your hands. Your head should be steady with a gaze toward your knees. Push your shoulders away from your ears.

Benefits:
✨Improve flexibility
✨Lengthen and tone the spine
✨Increases blood flow in the circulatory system
✨Can alleviate sciatic pains
✨Balance your body and your mind

Pro Tip 💥 if comfortable for you, walk your feet slightly closer toward your hands. This should help bring the heels closer to the ground.

Saturdays 8:00am (Intermediate/Advanced)
From Penguin to Crane: This is a beginner/intermediate level yoga class. Vinyasa flow with a focus on twisting & binding variations during asana (yoga poses). Perfect for a challenge!

Saturdays 10:00am (Beginner)
Mountain Child: This is a beginner level yoga class. A well-paced Vinyasa flow to get you familiar with different asana (yoga poses) and build your practice.

Sundays 9:00am (All Levels)
Twisted Warrior: This is a beginner/intermediate level yoga class Vinyasa flow with a focus on twisting binding variations during asana (yoga poses). Perfect for all levels of experience!

Sundays 10:30am (Beginner)
Stressless Yoga: Stress-Less Yoga is a slow, purposeful introduction to different yoga poses. We will take our time learning each pose, its benefits and the variations. This class is great for all levels. If you’re looking to dive deep into each pose, this class is for you.

Alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays 7:00pm (All Levels)
Work Week Yoga: Join us mid-week as we purposefully move our bodies through a series of vinyasas followed by a few restorative poses to prepare for the weekend.

Sundays 11:30am
Meditation- 6 class series
5/19/24-6/30/24 (no class Mothers Day or Fathers Day)
This is your invitation to begin OR dive deeper into your meditation practice. We will discuss how to meditate, how to build your own meditation practice, be guided into a meditation and how to maintain meditation during madness.

Exchange for each yoga class is $15
Meditation is $10

Justine and Tara are the founders of Be Well Long Island. Sisters, both certified to teach Yoga, have joined together to offer a wellness center like no other. Our mission is to connect people with “wellcare” services, provide a space for healing and facilitate wellness.

What is a “wellcare” service? It is a service one utilizes to aid in their well-being. It is not a response to sickness but rather a preventative measure. It is something one does to maintain or improve their self. Services such as Yoga, Reiki, Massage, Chiropractic Care, Acupuncture, Meditation and Sound Healing to name a few.

Services being offered at this time: Yoga, Reiki, Life Coaching, Meditation.

Padmasana • Lotus Pose

Sit with yourself. Connect with your soul. Balance and align your energy.

Start but finding a comfortable seat anywhere in the world. Gently bend one leg at the knee, placing your foot upon the opposite thigh. Then gently bend the other leg at the knee and place the other foot upon the opposite thigh. Hands can rest on the knees or placed together at heart center.

Benefits:
✨Promotes mental clarity
✨Relaxation
✨Balances and aligns
✨Reduces anxiety
✨Opens the Hips
✨ Can reduce menstrual discomfort

Justine is lengthening her spine in Downward Facing Dog on a Mayan ruin.

This asana (pose) is an inversion; a pose where the head is below the heart and hips.

Benefits of Inversions:
