“Initiation is when we move from one stage of life to another. So often, opportunities for initiations have been replaced by events that focus on entertainment and gifts rather than the transfer of wisdom from mentors and elders. Rather than preparing us for what’s ahead, these events can even distract us from the questions that naturally emerge at important turning points in life. In skipping the deeper work, we’re robbed of preparation, connection, and the collective wisdom needed to deliver us to the next stage.
When we consciously work with endings, our losses are a doorway through which our transformation can enter. Endings can be an opportunity to see ourselves for who we are, not who we’re supposed to be.”
