We are having an open forum this Thursday, July 28 at 20 Medford Ave. Suite 101 in Patchogue from 7 to 9 for safe staffing issues. We have been advocating since Covid until now for the unfair staffing issues . We need members to write down your issues in real time documentation with facts. So come by with your documents say hello or if you just wanna drop it in the mail slot will be there .

Regarding Nurse RaDonda Vaught verdict of criminally negligent homicide, Sonda Martin RN sums up her feelings perfectly: "What needs to happen now is that nurses everywhere need to refuse to work under conditions that do not allow us time to follow policies and procedures to the letter. We refuse to work with equipment that does not work. We refuse to take verbal orders from physicians who are too lazy or busy to put them in the system. We refuse pt assignments when we do not have time to take care of the patients we have already accepted responsibility for. We refuse to work where we are not given the time to document to the standard we will be held to.
That is my standard going forward—IF I decide to even keep my license." Well said!

We have noticed recent absolute misinformation on social media regarding dues. It is completely untrue that there is going to be an “extra charge” in dues for political reasons. NYSUT dues are set annually following the union convention and are not changed after that. There will be no secretive “extra charge” of any kind. In addition, there was also misinformation regarding the use of dues to support the campaign of Governor Hochul. This is also untrue. No dues money is used for political action including campaigns like this. There is separate fund that is used for political action like this called “vote-cope” but all contributions to vote-cope are completely voluntary on the part of each member. If you did not sign up to make voluntarily contributions to vote-cope then none of your dues are going to fund this type of political action. In addition, our Local Union does not contribute to Vote-Cope our support any politicians or political campaigns.
-We also want to state for the record that the Union had absolutely nothing to do with the change in our pharmacy/prescription plan!! Not only was this not negotiated by us but we had absolutely no notice that a change was coming. We were blindsided just as you were. We are aware that this a complete mess and we have been working every day to try and get it resolved. All legal actions have been put on the table with the Hospital. They are aware how angry everyone is and what a major problem it has caused. We are also trying to compile any specific issues that anyone has incurred so we can try and get it remedied right away. If you have been forced to pay more for a prescription or have been told you can no longer receive a prescription you had been using, please get the specifics to a union rep right away.
