Today we'll talk about reliability and personal connections.

Reliability is a key factor in choosing a pharmacy. A pharmacy must be reliable and techs and pharmacists must be available at all times, because you cannot make mistakes with medication or pharmaceuticals. Daily tasks must be performed correctly.

Smaller pharmacies don't have to face the same challenges as larger chains. This is especially true in recent years, when COVID-19 related issues such as staff shortages and staff overwork have made it more difficult for smaller pharmacies.

Independent pharmacies have a greater ability to keep their staff small and ensure their employees are knowledgeable and reliable, and they're notorious for viewing customer health as their most important job responsibility.

In smaller pharmacies the techs fill prescriptions and provide vaccinations. However, they also aim to make personal connections with their patients instead of treating them like just another business transaction.

Anyone who has had to wait in line at a pharmacy to pick up a prescription, or wait for a prescription that turns out not to be available yet, knows it can be frustrating, especially if they're not feeling well.

Wait times at independent pharmacies tend to be shorter than those at national brands. Consumer Reports found that only 3% of patients waited "a long time" for service at local pharmacies, while 18% did so at chain pharmacies. Spending less time in line can mean more time to rest, take care of sick relatives, or simply do what you want!

I'm often asked the question, "what's the primary difference between going to an independent drug store VS. the big chain stores found on nearly every street corner?" After all, they can all fill your prescriptions, right?
