Indiana remains one of the few states in the U.S. where cannabis—both recreational and medicinal—remains illegal. This position has created a unique economic and social dilemma as Indiana is now surrounded by states with legalized cannabis markets, including Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. While neighboring states reap significant tax revenues, job growth, and public health benefits from legal cannabis, Indiana faces a growing loss of revenue, economic outflow, and increasing pressure to adapt to changing regional and national dynamics.

Medical ma*****na/cannabis was key in giving Shelly Brewer a better quality of life when she had stage 4 cancer. Anyone claiming medical cannabis/ma*****na patients are addicted to ma*****na should realize that type of thinking is harmful to all cancer patients and many chronic illness patients alike.

In Parkinson's Disease (PD), the Endogenous Cannabinoid System (ECS) plays a crucial role in both motor and non-motor symptoms. As the image shows, the ECS affects various brain regions, such as the striatum, cerebellum, and hippocampus, influencing critical functions like motor activity, sleep, and cognition. PD's symptoms—ranging from tremors and muscle rigidity to depression and sleep disorders—can potentially be alleviated by targeting the ECS.

Research suggests that modulating the ECS with specific drugs holds promise for treating PD. However, this is a complex challenge due to the diverse functions of cannabinoid receptors (CBRs) in the brain. While experimental and clinical studies show potential, further research is necessary to refine ECS-targeting treatments, optimize dosages, and determine which PD symptoms cannabis-based therapies can best address.

“Groundbreaking Medical Cannabis Research”

New study published in BMJ Mental Health sheds light on a long-standing question in cannabis research:
What happens to endocannabinoid levels when cannabis is consumed?

Key findings:
• Oral CBD (800mg) increased anandamide levels by 1.6-fold
• Oral THC (10-20mg) initially decreased anandamide, but levels returned to baseline after 160 minutes
• Combined Oral CBD+THC produced the highest increases in anandamide (2.1-fold) and related compounds

Why this matters:
• It provides crucial insights into how cannabis compounds interact with our endocannabinoid system
• The findings could help optimize dosing for medical cannabis, especially for conditions like schizophrenia
• It opens new avenues for personalized medicine in mental health treatment
