We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and participated in our very first Hampshire County Job Fair, presented as a joint effort between the Hampshire County Chamber of Commerce and the Hampshire County Development Authority.

This event was created with one goal in mind—to help strengthen our local workforce and create meaningful connections between employers and job seekers right here in Hampshire County. We were proud to welcome over 20 employers and at least 50 job seekers, all coming together to support opportunity, growth, and the future of our community.

We’d like to give special thanks to those who helped make this event possible:

• Romney Brew Station for generously supplying water and coffee for our attendees
• Hampshire County Development Authority for donating the door prizes
• Jenna Gelow Designs for marketing the event and providing FREE professional headshots to support job seekers
• Cathy Simon for assisting with check-in and helping welcome attendees
• Tina from the Visit Hampshire Highlands for helping with event check-in and coordination

And of course, a heartfelt thank you to our participating employers and job seekers who made this event such a success. Your engagement and willingness to connect are what make initiatives like this truly meaningful.

This event marks an important step forward in our shared mission to support businesses, empower our workforce, and build a stronger future for Hampshire County. We look forward to continuing this momentum and creating even more opportunities for our community.

I'll be at a place for girls on February 28 teaching CPR and first aid. Register at gsccc.org

⛺🌲Lead your troop through outdoor adventures with confidence! Join us for a weekend training in outdoor skills at Camp Darden, February 27 through March 1. We will expand on the Basic Troop Camping course with an emphasis on fire building, outdoor cooking techniques, Advanced/Wilderness First Aid requirements, cooking without pots and pans, as well as other optional topics and skills.

Participants will leave with additional skills and confidence to take their troops on primitive/back-country overnight camping trips.

💙 Thank You, Newport News Shipbuilding HII ! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding, for their generous $10,000 grant supporting STEM programs right here on the Virginia Peninsula!

This funding will help us expand hands-on STEM opportunities for girls by:
🔬 Delivering engaging STEM programs
🧪 Purchasing critical STEM supplies
🚀 Providing financial assistance so underserved girls can participate in our Community Troop programs with no cost barriers

Programs will be offered at Camp Skimino, partner locations throughout the Peninsula, and virtually, led by trained staff and expert STEM partners.

As shared in our application, “Supplemental STEM programs that enhance learning beyond the classroom are essential for our future. Early engagement in STEM is more important than ever.”

Thanks to Newport News Shipbuilding’s investment, girls across our community are beginning a journey toward becoming the next generation of engineers, scientists, and programmers.
