Margret attended U of M School of Nursing for one year but changed direction and transferred to Western Michigan University for a degree in teaching. She taught P.E. for 32 years at Kalamazoo Central High School. She started an upholstery business after retiring from teaching.

She loved golf, and taught swimming for the Red Cross for 10 years. Peg loved her many pets and had more friends than one could count. Everyone loved Peg and she loved them all right back. She grew up on the Brockway farm and graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1958. After graduating from high school, Judy continued to work at the Abstract Office in Paw Paw. Around 1968, she was elected to serve as Paw Paw Township Treasurer, a position she held for over a decade.
