In Chinese medicine’s five phase theory (五行 wǔxíng), the natural joy and open communication of your fire element (the heart) can get shoved aside by silence and discouragement. The resilience and sense of justice embodied throughout your wood element (the liver) can be hardened into unprocessed anger and resentment. The willpower and original qi housed in your water element (the kidneys) can drain out leaving fear, shock, frozenness.

The purposefulness and animal nature of your metal element (the lungs) gives way to stuck grief and sadness. This can be particularly the case as summer turns to fall, and the feelings of loss multiply. All of this can contribute to sickness and lowered immunity.

Acupuncture can help your body maximize the natural tendencies of your coordinating elements (organic systems) as well as process what ails them.

We are experiencing incomprehensible dissonance between what we see in the world and what the consent-manufacturing machines are telling us. As we try to compartmentalize all of the violence and denials of said violence, our bodies take on the weight of the world. In this moment our minds feel scrambled and unreliable; our souls feel abused.

At Kindred, our goal is to be a welcome, inclusive space where people can come together to experience community and healing. We hope you stop by soon and let us hold your heart for a little while.
