Just as a check-in and reminder for everyone!

I sent out an email in May with resources that can be utilized for any human or animal appointments that are needed, but I have gotten several requests this week for appointments from those who didn't receive it. I will still be on leave through August as of now. If anything changes, I will definitely keep everyone posted!

I have some awesome chiropractic colleagues as well as other AVCA vets that we can get their information for you if you need help during this time! Send us a message at 801-896-7877 and we can get you the closest person ☺️

As always, hope everyone is doing well!

Have a great weekend! ♥️

Just a little reflection for the past few years...
The realities of being a mobile chiropractor 🥰

There is really no job out there like it.
The convenience is non-comparable.
We set a day and time, I set up everything, the kids keep playing, and you get to relax.

Long distances and dirt roads are traveled, revealing small charming town discoveries.
It's an honor to be invited as a guest in to your beautiful homes and see the views that you cherish the most.

You're signing up as a "client" or "patient," but really, you'll end up as a friend and family member.
Your kids and pets are SO loved, please do not apologize for the "mess" or "chaos" - bring on the cuddles and playtime!

There will always be room to have your pup by my feet and to take the time to show your kids the tools used and make them laugh with the "clicker."
The offer of farm fresh eggs, cold water, and home cooked brownies is always appreciated but never expected. Your kind gifts extend the warmth of your home, and if it weren't for my own family to run home to, I would probably accept more of the dinners you all offer!

There are no boundaries on discussions. We can chat about anything you want, kids, concerns, life, etc. I could almost be a licensed therapist 😉

We've mourned together at a beloved pets passing. We've even shared embarrassing stories. Sometimes I hear the wrong questions, and we all get to laugh at how obsurd I sound answering the wrong questions. You get to laugh at MY embarrassing stories, so at least you know I'm also human 🤣

House call appointments really are THE BEST 👌 And becoming a chiropractor is the best thing I could have ever done 🥳

All this to say, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life and I'm extremely lucky to enjoy what I do everyday! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Let's talk Co-management!

This can honestly be one of the hardest pieces of working with animals.

I Love being able to collaborate with your other providers if needed. Sometimes it's not needed yet, but might be in the future and when needed it's fantastic 🤩

So, when should we be using the team mindet? (Always is a great answer) but as animal owners sometimes we don't always have the time or money to be seeing multiple providers at once. So let's go through some examples!

- Upon arriving at a barn call, a horse owner advised they might have an additional horse that I could work on. With the recent history of stumbling and limb weakness and looking at her gait analysis I let the owner know that the horse looked neurological and I highly suggested they see the vet first to get cleared before beginning chiropractic. In the moment the owner was a little off about not being able to find a solution but The next time I saw the owner they were so grateful for the advice. Unfortunately they did see the veterinarian who confirmed this was not chiropractic related, but needed to be put down. (She was 30 years old so this wasn't as much of a surprise, although still heartbreaking!)

- Another dog I saw had been working with their veterinarian and physical therapist but had hit a plateau on improvement. The owner decided to try chiropractic care and within a session of adjustments and cold laser he seemed to find the missing piece for his recovery! Go team!

- A client called me for her dog who had seen a couple of vets, done imaging, and labs and they said they could not find anything to explain her symptoms. She wanted to try chiropractic for at least comfort for her dog. After a couple of months the owner called and advised the dog did appear to have pain relief for a couple of weeks after her adjustments but had continued to decline. She continued with different testing until they finally found that she had a very rare form of cancer and she passed shortly after. This owner even pointed out that No one could have known but she did not regret trying an adjustment for the temporary relief the dog had received.

- Here's where it gets tricky: I've seen animals that appeared to be slowly improving over the course of several adjustments, only for them to suddenly get worse and need to seek other care. With their history it did warrant imaging, but Upon results from their x-ray we found that there was more than anyone thought was going on! Even the vet was shocked that they had improved at all with adjustments and suggested Co-management with a couple of medications and ongoing chiropractic care.

- I've had other animals from the first visit that I have advised the owner should probably seek vet care and/or labs and imaging but the owner wanted to try a few adjustments first before spending the additional money and chiropractic just was not what they needed.

Sometimes it is very obvious that they need to see the farrier first, or they should alternate massage therapy and adjustments to best help their animal, or the only way to know is to get additional imaging from the vet.
Other times alternative providers are suggested, but after imaging and other exams the results are inconclusive. We then continue a longer trial of care to which the animals usually do amazing! They just needed more treatments than some of their similar cases, and that's okay!

With all of that said. It is totally about the team mindset, but sometimes it just isn't obvious which course of action needs to be taken first. And let me tell you, it's just as frustrating for me as it is for you.

Owners will say how frustrated they are that the farrier wants them to get their horse adjusted first before getting shoes because they are so uncomfortable it makes their job much more difficult. Owners might be frustrated at me because we saw little improvement after 2-3 adjustments and they were hoping for a complete resolution, or they wish their vet would've suggested adjustments first instead of their current treatment. But how do we know unless we start somewhere?

Every practitioner is doing their best, but we can't win every case we are asked to work on and that's why Co-management is KEY! So next time you want to point fingers, let's point to collaboration instead! 🥳

Maternity leave is fast approaching!

As for a current schedule update:

- I am not accepting any NEW patient visits until after Maternity leave. I do have a great referral network for both human and animal clients. Reach out and we can get you to the best fit for you!

- The schedule will completely close as of April 26th for all appointment types and I only have a few limited spots left if anyone still needs to be seen!

- I do already have a waitlist for when I get back to work. I am happy to get anyone added that I haven't already spoken to about keeping in touch to continue wellness care at that time!

May is not the greatest time to go on a break since this is the start of busy season....but I will make sure everyone is taken care of until I return 🤗

Thank you for all of your support as we welcome the next little Peach! 🥰🥰

I get asked all the time if little man still comes on barn calls with me...and the answer is yes he does! He might not always love it, but he does fairly well 😉

We got to see and her wonderful girls this week and I finally remembered to capture both babies out in the barn with me. Thanks Kim! 🥰

I am super thankful for everyone patient enough for me to keep him with me and for my slower pregnant self to take some extra time to get everyone adjusted well!

As a reminder, maternity leave is fast approaching if you need any horses worked on I'm about out of group appointments!

We need to put these on here so everyone has a reference for tools that are the most helpful! We recommend these all the time!

For any aging dogs or those dealing with weakness and instability, these are great game changers.

Many visits look like hallways over tile or wood floors lined with rugs and blankets so that these dogs have better traction and less chance of falling. However, instead of buying 20 more rugs, try these instead!

There is much less headache than dealing with full paw pads or boots that can be easily taken off, and most dogs have great results with traction while getting around 😊
