One of the many casualties of spending so much time sheltering at home during the past 10 months has been the unintentional sheltering of our hearts. Many of us have drawn inward, silently grieving for the loss of things that we perhaps don't understand or acknowledge. Not only have our social relationships suffered, but our emotional well-being has been compromised.
This Saturday come experience a heart opening sequence specially designed to ameliorate some of the things mentioned above. In this class you will:
--cleanse and balance the heart chakra
--protect, honor and open the heart from a safe space
--learn continual support for the heart by tracing the heart meridian
--learn the 2 organs that store the emotion of grief
--support those organs and learn to trace their meridians
--learn which of the 5 elements is out of balance if you are experiencing difficulty letting go of grief
--learn the element balancing exercise to release grief

My yoga classes are structured around the phases of the moon, drawing upon the intensely feminine lunar energy that invisibly informs so much of our experience. During the waxing phase of the moon, I plan sequences designed to build strength; sequences that are more yang in nature. During the waning moon phase, I design sequences that invite us to turn inward, coaxing the deep feminine yin energy to nourish us, cleanse us, heal us. As the moon enters its waning phase this Saturday, we'll invoke the infinitely creative, powerfully cleansing, and deep yin energy of the water element to begin the process of turning inward.
Water yoga is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! Invite a friend and join us at Lifehouse January 30th at 7:30 am. Oh....and don't forget to drink lots of WATER! πŸ™‚

What are your favorite methods for self-care?
I don't normally enjoy preparing meals, but I do consider food choices to be the most important daily choices we make to nurture ourselves. Today I actually enjoyed my food prep time and carefully chose meals that made my heart happy. It was one of the rare times in my life that I nurtured (in every sense of the word)myself with food.
For breakfast, I finally found a way to incorporate papaya (a food I normally loathe, but know will help heal my digestive issues) into my meals with this glorious papaya berry boat. I created my own dressing from freshly squeezed orange juice, ginger and honey. I added a pear for the perfect thickness.
For lunch, I modified a favorite falafel recipe to make it low fat. I served it over a tossed salad with homemade spicy cashew and cilantro sauce.
I feel loved....self-love.

This Saturday, come experience a cleansing yoga sequence that invokes the creative and playful elements of the water element. It is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE yoga to teach! The water element emanates from the sacral or β€œwomb” chakra. This sacred center of a woman’s body carries so much beautiful feminine information as well as storing stresses associated with childbirth and matriarchal worries. As we move with the water element, we can root out those stored stresses and invite balance and healing.
