Chelsea Jewish Lifecare's North Shore Campus includes the Jeffrey & Susan Brudnick Center for Living (Skilled Nursing, Rehabilitation and Memory Care), the Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Health Center, and the Harriett & Ralph Kaplan Estates (Traditional and Memory Care Assisted Living Residences). Additionally, Chelsea Jewish Aging Life Care (formerly geriatric care management) is serving seniors and the disabled of the North Shore.

The residents at Harriett and Ralph Kaplan Estates enjoyed taking part in a Horticulture Club this summer! Residents not only worked in the garden but also enjoyed the fruits of their labor during a special Farm-to-Table event, where they helped prepare and savor a variety of delicious appetizers and desserts.

This collaborative program was led by Jennifer Ferringo, Occupational Therapy Assistant with Legacy Lifecare VNA, and Laurie Faria, Activities Assistant at Kaplan Estates. Through horticulture therapy, occupational therapy supports residents by improving cognitive and motor skills, strengthening fine motor coordination, and encouraging social engagement.

The garden has been a source of joy for residents and families alike, who contributed their time and care to its success. The Horticulture Club was created to enrich residents’ lives through meaningful, purposeful activity and it has truly done just that.

Thank you to everyone who made this season such a success! LLVNA and Kaplan Estates look forward to planting and growing together again next year.

Staff Appreciation Day at Chelsea Jewish Lifecare!

This year’s theme was “Chelsea Jewish Lifecare Rock Stars” — because our employees truly are the stars of the show!

Team members enjoyed striking a pose in our photo booth with guitars, drums, and trumpets , plus delicious meals to celebrate the day: breakfast for all, Chinese food for our day shift, and Italian for our evening shift.

We are so grateful for the dedication, compassion, and hard work of our incredible staff. A special thank you to Lee Merrill for creating this video with images from the day!

Rock Painting with Residents

Residents from both our Traditional and Legacy units enjoyed a wonderful rock painting event, held in collaboration with Legacy Lifecare VNA’s Jennifer Ferringo and the Kaplan Estates Activities Department team—Madison Muszynski, Stacey McDonald, and Ellen.

These beautifully painted rocks are now scattered throughout our gardens, bringing color, creativity, and joy to everyone who visits.

A wonderful day of planting and connection!

Our horticulture group on the Legacy unit had the pleasure of working alongside Jennifer Ferringo from Legacy Lifecare VNA in collaboration with Kaplan Estates Activities Assistant Madison Muszynski. Together, residents and staff created something beautiful—bringing fresh greenery, smiles, and a sense of community to our home.

Yesterday, the residents of Harriett and Ralph Kaplan Estates enjoyed a lively performance by Michael and Sierra from Steps In Time. Their graceful ballroom dancing brought the room to life, and soon they had residents joining in — whether standing or from their seats.

The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and cherished memories. Some residents reminisced about meeting their spouse at a dance, while others fondly recalled sewing a new outfit each week just for the occasion.

It was a beautiful reminder of the joy that music and dance bring — and we can’t wait to welcome Michael and Sierra back!

A Century (and More!) of Living Life to the Fullest

Thank you to Peabody TV for joining us as we celebrated six incredible Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates residents—each 100 years or older, with our eldest at 111!

Our elegant High Tea was filled with delicious food, live entertainment by Alan LaBella, and the joy of honoring these remarkable milestone birthdays. What an unforgettable afternoon of laughter, music, and shared memories.

Nothing says summer like an ice cream truck rolling through the neighborhood!

This week, we had a special visit from Steve and the Street Treats ice cream truck at Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates. As the familiar music played, it brought back sweet memories for many of our residents.

From choosing their favorite frozen treat to enjoying laughs and sunshine with friends, it was a heartwarming (and delicious!) way to beat the heat.

Last week, the residents and staff of Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates gathered for a truly special occasion—honoring our six incredible residents turning 100 or older this year!

Our theme was "High Tea," complete with a delightful spread of petit fours and finger sandwiches. The celebration was made even sweeter by entertainer Alan LaBella, who had everyone singing, dancing, and smiling all afternoon.

What an unforgettable way to celebrate lives so beautifully lived. Here's to our centenarians!

Aloha from Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates! Last week’s Luau Day was full of tropical fun and island vibes! Residents learned two hula chair dances, sang festive songs, and even competed in a sandcastle building contest. We topped it all off with sweet snacks like juicy pineapple and refreshing Hawaiian Punch. Mahalo to everyone who helped make the day so special!
