Spring is in the air at Harriet and Ralph Kaplan Estates!

Residents recently came together for a joyful and meaningful garden planting activity, made possible through a wonderful collaboration with Legacy Lifecare VNA. Special thanks to Jennifer Ferringo (Occupational Therapy Assistant), Michele Baker (Physical Therapy Assistant), and Laurie Faria (Activity Assistant) for helping make the 2026 spring garden preparations such a success.

This hands-on experience was more than just planting—it was therapy in action. Through horticulture-based Occupational Therapy, residents engaged in activities that support cognitive function, fine motor skills, coordination, and social connection. Physical Therapy was also thoughtfully incorporated, focusing on standing balance and lower body strength throughout the planting process.

Together, residents planted beautiful pansies along with a variety of flowers and herbs—bringing color, purpose, and plenty of smiles to the season.

Legacy Lifecare VNA teamed up with the wonderful residents and staff at Harriet & Ralph Kaplan Estates to show their support for the Boston Celtics—and have some fun along the way!

Dressed in green, everyone joined in the excitement of a “Hoops & Shoots” basketball game, where fun met function. Our Physical and Occupational Therapy teams partnered with the activities staff to incorporate meaningful movement, with residents engaging in dynamic and static balance exercises, strength-building, and hand-eye coordination activities.

A perfect example of how therapy can be both purposeful and fun!

This golf-inspired session focused on improving balance, eye-hand coordination, standing tolerance, trunk and core strengthening, and upper extremity range of motion — all while doing something he loves.

A delightful afternoon at the Brudnick Center for Living with the Ladies of Hereford creating edible flowerpots! These sweet treats featured crushed Oreos for “dirt,” chocolate pudding for “mud,” and coconut for “grass,” all topped off with colorful flower sprinkles. A fun and delicious way to get creative together!

Residents, families, and staff at the Jeffrey & Susan Brudnick Center for Living came together for a beautiful Seder dinner filled with tradition, reflection, and community. The evening included meaningful readings, familiar songs, and a delicious holiday meal enjoyed around the table together.

Passover is a time to celebrate freedom, share stories, and connect across generations. It was wonderful to see everyone participating, reminiscing, and enjoying this special tradition.

Chelsea Jewish Lifecare and Legacy Lifecare were proud to participate in the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce’s 22nd Health, Home & Lifestyle Expo at the Northshore Mall this past Saturday.

Jillian Hemeon attended on behalf of our organizations, connecting with community members and sharing information about our services and resources. As a Silver Sponsor, we were honored to support this well-attended event featuring more than 30 local businesses and organizations dedicated to health, home, and lifestyle solutions.

Thank you to the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce for hosting a wonderful community event. We enjoyed meeting so many attendees and building new connections.

We were pleased to welcome a group of 13 students from North Shore Community Action Programs (NSCAP), along with their Program Coordinator, to the Peabody campus of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare. The visit provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about our full campus of care, including Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Health Center, Harriet & Ralph Kaplan Estates Assisted Living and Memory Support, and the Jeffrey & Susan Brudnick Center for Living, while exploring potential pathways for future employment.

The students are currently participating in a free Home Health Aide training program through NSCAP in partnership with Commonwealth Corps. The program focuses on preparing individuals for careers as Home Health Aides while also providing English language support and instruction. With just three weeks remaining before they graduate as CNAs and HHAs, it was a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to careers in senior care and share the many ways they can make a meaningful impact.

We value partnerships like this that help strengthen the workforce and create opportunities for individuals interested in serving older adults. We look forward to continued collaboration with NSCAP and wish these students great success as they complete their training and begin their careers.
