A proud moment and an incredible milestone!
One of our residents at Brudnick Center for Living, Adrienne Arkun, recently shared this special photo wearing her Queens College alumna regalia, commemorating the 80th anniversary of her graduation in May 1946.
Originally aspiring to become a chemist, she was encouraged to pursue a more “practical” career at the time and became a librarian instead. She later went on to earn a master’s degree from Columbia University, continuing her lifelong love of learning.
She always remained deeply proud of Queens College, part of New York City’s public university system, for providing immigrants, children of immigrants, and working-class students the opportunity to receive a rigorous, high-quality education.
Stories like these remind us of the remarkable lives, determination, and accomplishments of the residents who call our community home.
