This is the wonderful season where many celebrate the birth of Jesus. The reality is that many people silently struggle during this season. Many struggle with seasonal affective disorder , or other types of anxiety or depression this time of year, .iHolidays and anniversaries trigger memories from the past. The loss of a family member or friend can change the dynamics of your family celebration As we shop and attend Christmas parties and family gatherings remember to reach out to those who may appear to be disconnected. Move out of your comfort zone a bit and invite a few new people to your Christmas open house. Reconnect with a neighbor that you haven’t seen for a while by dropping off your fav cookies.nEncoursge your children to do the same. Mental health struggles are REAL and kind, normal, people like you and me suffer this time of year. It could be a neighbor, a friend, your son or daughters friend….. Show them that you care.., show them that they are not invisible…. Reach out to them.

and…..I’m here too if someone needs me. ❤️❤️

Wise words!!

When we heal, we learn to identify our strengths and weaknesses, recognize the patterns that might have contributed to our struggles, and gain insight into how we can make healthier choices moving forward.

This heightened self-awareness can lead to personal growth, improved relationships, and a more fulfilling life. We become more attuned to our needs and better equipped to navigate challenges in a constructive and empowered way.

The best self care strategies!!!!!!

The best self care strategies!!!!!!

We are our own worst critics. It is easy to guilt ourselves into thinking we are being selfish when all we have done is put our mental health first. To me, being selfish means making a decision that harms others.

In this post, many of the things I have mentioned can hurt other people's feelings which is unavoidable at times. This is why it is crucial that we communicate these needs in a respectful way with a gentle tone. I want to emphasize that there is a balance, like in most things. Compromise and consideration creates strong relationships which, in return, also benefits our well being.

Take care of your mind and body. Love, Nawal ♥️

Great article for parents of kids/teens diagnosed with ADHD. It’s all abt identifying executive functioning deficits and developing a plan to strengthen skills using coaching for both kids and their parents!

A 7-year-old with ADHD has the executive functioning skills of a 4- or 5-year-old. A 13-year-old’s EF age is between 10 and 11. Your expectations for your child need to align with their EF age, and your strategies for scaffolding probably need to change accordingly.

Just some thoughts about depression…

When someone is depressed they often do not know why they are depressed. They can’t come up with a reason. They may have problems sleeping for long periods of time. They often are overthinking and in their head. Their thoughts can be distorted which affects how they problem solve. Negative thinking becomes their primary self talk as they blame themself for their lack of productivity and loneliness.

They may not reach out to someone because they don’t understand it themself. They CAN’T explain it. Often I hear younger people say that they don’t share their struggles with anyone close because they will ask too many questions. “How can u be depressed? You have a great life.”

Keep track of your family, friends, and acquaintances. Check in on the ones that you haven’t seen for a while. Often people that are depressed and/or are dealing with traumatic memories seem to have a pattern of “going underground”. (That’s what I call it.)

Send them a text, an email, or give them a call. They don’t want to be treated differently but they need to interact with others in order to replace their negative thoughts with more hopeful ones. Offer to take a walk or meet for coffee but YOU organize it.

Most importantly…. Give them an opportunity to be heard. Just listen and don’t try to fix them. Your act of reaching out can make such a difference… It just may save a life.❤️
