Lifestyle Medicine (LM) is a rapidly growing discipline that focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in preventing, managing, and reversing chronic disease. There is strong evidence that the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections—are central to creating and maintaining overall health. As a certified lifestyle medicine physician associate, my mission is to help people develop healthier habits and make lifestyle changes to treat and prevent chronic conditions through personalized care and patient-centered approaches. To pursue a holistic approach to lifestyle medicine, you should focus on the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, adopting a proactive approach to health and well-being.

Not in scrubs this week — and honestly, it felt so good. Sometimes we get so caught up in the daily grind, especially in healthcare, that we forget how empowering it is to take time for ourselves.

Wearing something that makes you feel confident, refreshed, and like you again isn’t vanity — it’s a way of nurturing your well-being. When you feel good, it radiates into everything else: your mindset, your energy, your mood.

Self-care isn’t always candles and bubble baths — sometimes it’s putting on real clothes, doing your hair, and reminding yourself that you’re more than just your work uniform. 💛

September is Self-Care Awareness Month, and there’s no better time to reflect on the power of prioritizing you.

This time last year, I was running on empty—burning out, saying “yes” when I needed to say “no,” and ignoring the signs my mind and body were sending me. I thought productivity meant progress. I was wrong.

The real transformation happened when I started treating self-care as essential, not optional.
✨ Setting boundaries
✨ Saying no without guilt
✨ Resting without needing to “earn it”
✨ Moving my body in ways that feel good
✨ Speaking to myself with kindness

Taking care of myself has been the greatest shift—not just in how I look, but in how I feel. More grounded. More present. More me.

Let this be your reminder:
🫶 Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s survival.

🌍✈️ Just got back from an incredible European vacation feeling refreshed, recharged, and re-inspired. Taking time away reminded me just how essential it is to truly disconnect, slow down, and enjoy life beyond the hustle.

✨ Work-life balance isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. Giving ourselves space to rest not only helps prevent burnout, it also boosts creativity, mental clarity, and overall well-being.

Now back home and ready to jump into the routine with a new perspective — and a promise to myself to maintain some of that European pace and intentional living. 🧘‍♀️💪

Taking this trip as a reminder that rest is not a reward — it’s a necessity.
Today was all about slowing down: quiet moments by the Seine, nourishing food, long walks through charming streets, and a little less screen time.
Paris has a way of making you breathe deeper, move slower, and really feel the beauty in everyday life.
