Lifestyle Medicine (LM) is a rapidly growing discipline that focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in preventing, managing, and reversing chronic disease. There is strong evidence that the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances, and positive social connections—are central to creating and maintaining overall health. As a certified lifestyle medicine physician associate, my mission is to help people develop healthier habits and make lifestyle changes to treat and prevent chronic conditions through personalized care and patient-centered approaches. To pursue a holistic approach to lifestyle medicine, you should focus on the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit, adopting a proactive approach to health and well-being.

One thing they don’t tell you enough about post-menopause? How much your hair changes. 💫 For me, it became thinner, drier, and lost that natural fullness I used to take for granted. My strands felt more fragile, and my scalp seemed more sensitive than ever — like my hair needed a whole new kind of love. 💕

Instead of fighting it, I decided to adapt. Enter: clip-in extensions 🙌

They’ve become my favorite way to add color, volume, and length without putting stress on my natural hair. I can play with highlights, fullness, and different styles while still giving my scalp and strands a chance to breathe and stay healthy. 🌿

This journey has taught me that post-menopause beauty is all about reinvention — finding what works for the woman you are now. Strong, evolving, and still shining. ✨

💖 Here’s to healthy hair, confident choices, and embracing every chapter.

✨ About Last Night… ✨
I had the pleasure of attending the Thrive Dinner, hosted by the Underrepresented Physicians and Practitioners Business Resource Group (UPP BRG).

It was such an inspiring evening centered on well-being, connection, and purpose — bringing together healthcare professionals who are passionate about advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging, while working to reduce health disparities in our communities.

Looking forward to greater things coming‼️

💇🏽‍♀️I’ve realized that healthy hair growth isn’t just about length — it’s about strength. Sometimes that means trimming away what no longer serves me, both in life and in my hair. ✂️💫

As I move through post-menopausal changes, I’m learning to honor my body’s transitions instead of fighting them. Protective styles, patience, and a little extra self-love are helping me build a stronger foundation — inside and out. 💕

This journey is more than hair care — it’s self-care. It’s about embracing every stage, trusting the process, and celebrating growth in all its forms. 🌸

A healthy lifestyle isn’t just about what you eat or how much you move — it’s about the connection between your mind and body. 🧠💪🏽

When your thoughts align with your actions, wellness becomes a way of life — not a task on your to-do list.
Start this week by tuning in: move with intention, breathe with purpose, and nourish both your body and your mindset.

Small steps today create lasting balance tomorrow. 💫
Here’s to a strong, peaceful, and energized week ahead! 🌸

🍁 Fall Into Healthy Skin! 🍂

As the air gets cooler and drier, your skin needs a little extra love to stay healthy and glowing. Here are a few simple tips to keep your skin happy this season:

💧 Hydrate Inside & Out:
Drink plenty of water and switch to a richer moisturizer to lock in hydration.

🧴 Don’t Skip Sunscreen:
UV rays are still strong in fall! Keep protecting your skin daily.

🧼 Gentle Cleansing:
Use a mild cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of natural oils.

🍯 Exfoliate & Nourish:
Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dry skin, and follow up with a soothing serum or hydrating mask.

🌿 Boost from Within:
Eat seasonal fruits and veggies rich in antioxidants like pumpkins, apples, and leafy greens for that natural glow.

A few small changes can make a big difference in keeping your skin radiant all season long! ✨

✨ Just like an outfit isn’t quite complete without the right accessories, I’ve realized the same goes for my healthy lifestyle. 💅🏽🏃🏽‍♀️

Eating well and moving my body are the foundation (think jeans and a tee), but it’s the little extras that really make it shine:
🌿 A good night’s sleep = the statement earrings of wellness
💧 Hydration = the perfect bag you never knew you needed
🧘🏽‍♀️ Quiet time or meditation = that final touch of lipstick that pulls it all together
💬 Positive people & boundaries = the comfy heels that actually support you all day

These “accessories” might seem small, but together they elevate everything — my energy, my mood, my mindset. So yes, I’ll keep adding a little sparkle to my salad and my soul. ✨

😊 Happy World Smile Day! 🌍✨

Today, we celebrate one of the simplest, yet most powerful gestures we all share — the smile. Whether it’s a quick grin to a stranger or a heartfelt laugh with loved ones, smiling does more than just brighten a moment — it actually boosts your health!

So today, and every day, share your smile freely. It costs nothing but could mean everything to someone else — and your body will thank you for it too. 💛

🧠💬 October is Health Literacy Month! 📚💪🏽

Did you know that nearly 9 out of 10 adults struggle to understand and use personal and public health information? That’s why every October, we recognize Health Literacy Month—a time to promote the importance of making health information easier to understand and access.

When people understand their health:
✔️ They make better choices
✔️ They take medications correctly
✔️ They manage chronic conditions more effectively
✔️ They are more likely to get preventive care

🎯 Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, healthcare worker, or community leader—YOU have a role in improving health literacy. Ask questions, simplify language, and advocate for clear communication!

🗓️ This October, let’s work together to close the gap between health information and understanding.

📢 Spread the word. Share resources. Start the conversation.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the health advice out there — you’re not alone. But here’s the truth: healthy living doesn’t have to be complicated.

As a Lifestyle Medicine practitioner, I focus on the evidence-based pillars of health that can transform your life. Here are some simple, powerful steps you can start today:

✅ Move More: Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days. A walk around the block, dancing in your kitchen, or stretching before bed — it all counts.

🍎 Eat Whole, Plant-Predominant Foods: Fill your plate with colorful veggies, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. These foods fuel your body and fight disease.

😴 Prioritize Sleep: 7–9 hours of quality sleep per night is not a luxury — it’s a necessity for healing, brain health, and emotional balance.

🧘‍♂️ Manage Stress: Practice deep breathing, mindfulness, or gratitude journaling. Even 5 minutes a day can make a big difference.

👥 Build Connections: Strong relationships and social support improve longevity and reduce the risk of chronic illness.

🚭 Avoid Risky Substances: Stay away from to***co and limit alcohol. Your body will thank you.

✨ You don’t need to change everything overnight. Start small. Pick one habit, stay consistent, and build from there.

You deserve to feel energized, resilient, and well — one healthy choice at a time. 💚

✨ So grateful for another opportunity for Black Girls in White Coats to show up and show out at the Self-Care Resource Fair for the amazing athletes of Clark Atlanta University! 🖤🏥

We had a great time providing health education, connecting with students, faculty, and fellow health & wellness providers — all in the name of self-care, empowerment, and community support.

There’s nothing like pouring into the next generation of leaders and changemakers. 💪🏾🧠💜
