I’ve learned that God can use even the hardest seasons to reshape how we lead and how we love.
Leadership doesn’t always look like strength.
Sometimes it looks like
tears,
trembling faith,
and showing up when your heart feels shattered.
For me, that moment came the day my seventeen-year-old son was taken away in handcuffs.
That same evening, I was scheduled to teach my first Family Therapy course at a college.
Every part of me wanted to cancel, but deep down, I knew I was supposed to show up.
God’s Spirit strengthened me to stand before that class… not because I was strong, but because HE was present.
That night changed the way I lead.
It taught me that leadership…
❌ isn’t about appearing composed when everything is falling apart
✔️ it’s about being obedient, grounded, and anchored in faith, even when you feel broken.
When I later shared pieces of my story with families facing similar devastation, they said, “SOMEONE LIKE YOU didn’t have to share that.”
That moment humbled me.
It reminded me that people often assume leaders are untouched by pain, but true leadership requires:
transparency
and compassion.
Years later, I presented at the Book of Acts Christian Leadership Conference, hosted by Pastor John and Dr. Tanoa Williams teaching my signature P.A.I.N. Framework:
Perceive,
Analyze,
Identify and
Navigate
It’s a model for turning adversity into growth.
It was born out of my own journey of leading through heartbreak, uncertainty, and grace.
So now, when I train teams and leaders in communication, cohesion, and relationship-centric leadership, I lead with a deeper awareness… one anchored in humility, empathy, and grace.
The very experience that once brought me to my knees now reminds me that leadership
❌ isn’t about having all the answers;
✔️ it’s about seeing people through the lens of compassion, connection, and humanity.
