It's the season of giving, and our Matheny volunteers are definitely putting us in the festive spirit! Please join us in thanking The Garden Club of Long Valley for joining us yesterday to create these beautiful arrangements. In keeping with the spirit of holiday generosity, some residents decided to give their creations away as gifts to nurses, direct support professionals, and front desk staff!

What a treat for our final of 2025! It was wonderful to meet an engaged group of 2nd-year Rutgers OTD Program students yesterday for a spotlight session on our Wheelchair Clinic and Rehab Technology departments. Thank you all for your thoughtful questions and participation!

Our adult clients continued their tradition of designing and decorating a tree for the annual Morris County Park Commission's Festival of Trees at Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s mansion in Morristown!

Our tree theme this year is "The Garden State." Clients had a great time learning about what fruits and vegetables grow in New Jersey and making corresponding fruit and vegetable ornaments for the tree.

If you are interested in seeing the tree in person, the Festival of Trees is open to visitors all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the month of December!

December 5th is International Volunteer Day! Over the years, Matheny's amazing volunteers have helped clean and beautify our campus spaces, made our special events run smoothly, and created engaging activities for our students and residents. Thank you for playing a vital role in our community!

Handmade with heart blankets are sure to bring colorful coziness to Matheny group home residents during cold days and nights. Thanks to Debi DeLorenzo, longtime volunteer with The Friends of Matheny, for connecting us with Westfield’s Friends Sharing the Warmth (the crochet and knitting club of the Friends of the Westfield Memorial Library). This wonderful group donates custom creations to groups in need. We appreciate all the thoughtful time, talent, and treasure given in support of our mission and community members!
