Today, my heart is heavy. Yesterday our family lost Rex. For 13 years, he gave all of us the greatest joy. He loved unconditionally and just loved his snacks and walks like any dog should! During his last months, we watched his health decline due to cancer. We were all doing everything we can to give him the best care we could. Rex finally took his last breath and he was surrounded by all of us who loved him so much. I told my boys that we gave Rex the best life ever, but truly it was the opposite…Rex filled our lives with tremendous amounts of love and because of him we had the best life. He was truly the best gift God could have ever given to us. We will miss him and we know Rex is now in the hands of God. 🌈

For those of you who have lost pets as well, my heart goes out to you. They truly fill out hearts like no other and they are a gift from the Lord. Their imprints on our hearts remain unsurpassed. Their love unmatched. ❤️

I probably spent a good majority of my life chasing after success. Whether in ministry, in business, in investments…there was always something to chase after.

Last year was a pivotal year for me. My second son was going to graduate high school and I was going to now be able to pursue more of my “purpose” and dream big. However, God had a different plan…my dad fell off a 15 foot ladder onto a concrete sidewalk and my life changed. My extra time and attention was now focused on his care and ensuring all his needs were met.

As much as it was inconvenient, it brought unusual joys in my life at the same time. Being able to spend extra time talking and engaging with him (even with his dementia) while taking him to a million doctor appointments, buying him Starbucks and a pastry he likes while out, praying for him (as he’s an atheist), hearing him say the funniest things, and then being able to marry my parents who have been together for 12 years.

I would have never said my purpose in life was to care for my family and loved ones, but the truth is that is what it is. Its not about wordly success in as much as being a daily blessing to those who are closest to you. The tiny moments is what truly matters the most and I am learning that.

In 2026, my hope is for all of you to find your tiny moments and little events in your life which make you alive. That’s your “purpose.”

Focusing my PhD dissertation on the s*xual abuse of adult women by clergy. THIS. SHOULD. NEVER. HAPPEN. It is an exploitation of abuse of power and authority. It is a betrayal of trust. It is not about s*x. It is not an affair. This is a hidden and invisible problem where stats show that 1 in 56 women reported s*xual abuse by a clergy person, and that 10-20% of clergy s*xually offend. We need to be a part of the solution to keep our congregants, especially women and children, safe and protected in our churches. Let’s be the light and the voice for those who cannot speak foe themselves. As Christians, we need to help heal, not hurt.
