Louis Philip Bauer
May 08, 1934 – May 14, 2026
Louis was born in New Orleans, LA on May 8, 1934 and was called home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2026, after complications from a stroke. For the last 49 years of his life , he lived in Slidell and Pearl River, LA
Louis was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean conflict. He was stationed in Guam and served aboard the USS Shields and the USS Ingersoll. During this time, he met the love of his life with whom he shared 66 years of joy and laughter.
Anyone who met Louis was better for it. He was a staunch defender of the underdog and a fixer of everything - from cars and washing machines to broken hearts. He had a deep love of God, a quick wit, a playful, mischievous nature, an adventurous spirit, and compassion and empathy for everyone he encountered. Wherever he was, there was laughter, joy, and a good time.
In his early years, Louis worked for New Orleans Public Service and Hyster Co. In his fifties, he suffered a severe depression, from which he was miraculously healed by the Lord. Through this experience he discovered his true calling of helping others who were experiencing trauma and heartache. He received a doctorate from St John’s University and worked as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist for over 30 years. Louis did numerous talks and seminars and is the author of “A Journey to Inner Healing: Understanding the Mind, Body, Spirit Connection”. At the time of his death, he was finishing his second book, “Whispers of Wisdom from a Grandpa’s Heart”.
Louis cherished his family immensely and every friend became family. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Bauer, his mother, Etienna Marques Bauer, his beautiful wife, Valdeana Baker Bauer, and his infant son, Daniel Philip Bauer. He is survived by his children, sons, Louis F Bauer (Ann) and John J Bauer (Brandy) and his daughter Cathy Bauer White (Bob). He is also survived by his grandchildren Tammy Bauer, Amanda Bauer Overby, Matthew Bauer, Ryan C White, Stephanie White McGoey, Kelsie Bauer Kelt and Danielle Bauer. He is also survived by his great grandchildren Caleb, Gabriel, Angel, Annalise, and Brianna Overby, along with Brady, Hayley, Lily, and Brody Bauer, Christian, Austin and Makayla White, Addison McKinnion, and Catherine and Abigail McGoey.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St Genevieve Catholic Church, 58203 LA-433, Slidell, LA 70460, beginning at 9 am followed by a Funeral mass at 11:00 am. Everyone is invited to join the family for a potluck repast and Celebration of Life in the church hall following the service. A military graveside service will be held at a later date at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Road, Slidell, Louisiana 70460
In lieu of flowers, Louis would request that you take a moment each day to step away from the hustle and bustle and just be in the moment, experiencing the peace of God’s everyday miracles, be thankful for your blessings, travel light by letting go of past hurts and regrets, recognize the kingdom of God in each person you encounter, and be the light in someone else’s darkness.
