Jimmy Doyle FogartyBorn: September 8, 1943 – Oklahoma City, OklahomaDied: August 28, 2025 – Slidell, Louisiana

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Doyle Fogarty (Jim Fogarty), who departed this life peacefully in the loving arms of his wife on August 28, 2025, in Slidell, Louisiana. He was 81 years old. Born on September 8, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Jim lived a life full of love, work, and quiet passions. He was the son of Anna Elizabeth Bennett and Burmer Doyle Fogarty. In 1947, his mother married Lawrence D. Hancock, who lovingly raised Jim as his own. Though not his biological father, Lawrence was his true father in every sense of the word, and Jim always considered him as such. A devoted husband, he spent 38 years married to the love of his life, Karen Lynn Hamrick, with whom he built a home filled with laughter, hard work, and shared dreams. He loved Karen more than anything in the world, and together they raised a blended family that he cherished deeply. Jim was the proud father of seven children: four from his first marriage; from his second marriage, a beloved stepdaughter whom he helped raise from the age of seven; a dear foster daughter; and a cherished son. He loved each of them deeply and took pride in their lives and accomplishments.
Professionally, Jim made his mark working on some of the most iconic engineering feats of our time — contributing to the design and construction of U.S. airplanes and NASA space shuttles. His hands helped build machines that soared above the earth, but his heart always remained grounded on the farm he loved. After retiring, he found peace and joy tending his land, caring for his animals, tinkering in his workshop, and spending quiet moments with his wife by his side. Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for family, and his ability to find joy in life’s simple pleasures. He is survived by his wife, Karen Fogarty; his children, Susan Pocket, Amy Fogarty, Scott Fogarty, Mike Fogarty, Robyn Gobble, Tiffine Smith, and Ryan Fogarty; his many grandchildren; as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
“Dad, we will miss you immensely.”
