This is a long one. I have always been an exercise ju**ie. I ran several marathons. My first marathon was 2004, after my mom passed away from Stomach Cancer. I joined the Leukemia Lymphoma society, Team in Training NYC Chapter. I met some really great humans there. I trained and completed 4 marathons.
I trained for my first 1/2 ironman with them as well. I was so afraid to go in that water. It took me about an hour to swim 1.2 miles in Disney lake. Two coaches asked me during the half marathon if I wanted to do an Ironman. I was struggling during that half. It was hotter than hell, I felt like a truck him several times over. (They are lucky I didn’t kick them in the head.) Thats what happens with s**tty nutrition during a race.
That summer I went to see my friends race Lake Placid IM, and guess who signed up for one. I did.
I started training for IM LP and 2 months before race day. I fell off my bike in Central Park in horse s**t alley and fractured my wrist. I remember crying to my doctor , am I going to be able to complete my race. He laughed at me (the important thing was I able to finish my race after 10 months of training), but I was able to continue to train for my race. I finished the race, not as fast as I would have liked to.
I did a 50k ultramarathon in Bear Mountain. That was so pretty. I also did CrossFit.
I have been there and done that. I have had really bad ITB issues, and I have also had crappy shin splints. I know what pain is, and I don’t want you to have to experience it. Send me a text, call, email, smoke signals. Hmmm what do you think I should do next?
