What does an ankle fracture really look like?
🔹This X-ray shows a break in the bones that make up the ankle joint.
Ankle fractures can happen from sports injuries, falls, or high-impact trauma. Some fractures stay in alignment and can be treated with casting, while others require surgery with plates and screws to restore stability.
Why it matters:
🔹Untreated fractures can lead to chronic pain, joint instability, or arthritis.
🔹Only an X-ray can confirm a fracture . Keep in mind sprains and fractures can look very similar!
If you experience severe pain, swelling, deformity, or can’t bear weight, don’t wait. Get your ankle checked out by a specialist at Coastal Foot & Ankle Associates!
