I wish people were less scared of food 🧞

Do you ever feel like the food monster is after you? 👾

You are invited to a dinner party and if it isn't enough struggle finding the perfect outfit, your head starts spinning about what foods you can, should, cannot or should not eat. Hello food monster! 👹

How can you kill the headless monster? You become educated, smarter and braver 🦸‍♀️( read full caption for a bonus at the end)

✅ Challenge the food myth monster- misinformation about food causes a lot of fear. Do check your resources or who the info. comes from. Aunt "Becky" might not be the source just because she read one book that "changed her life". Consulting with a registered dietitian can really help you understand how foods can affect your health and cast the fears around food away. 🪄

✅ Ditch the label monster- I am talking about the "good" and "bad" labels we give to foods- the bottom line is, creating labels for our foods automatically brings on a restrictive mindset casting fear or guilt. Learning how to fit foods into a balanced diet is key to a understand the real value they give. As a result you become happier and food becomes more joyful.

✅ Practice Mindful Eating- Focus on your food. Slow down when you eat. Turn off the TV, stop scrolling on social media ( yet don't read this while you are eating 😜). Turn into your senses, your hunger cues and truly savor every bite you eat. Imagine the food is your hero and as it travels through your unique body what are all the wonderful benefits that you will get from it.

BONUS- by casting the food monsters away you save your gut. You become your own HERO🦹‍♀️

If you’re looking to improve your digestion immediately without a total diet overhaul, here are the
TOP 6 ways👇

1️⃣Slow down when you eat.
👉By eating too fast and not breaking our food apart properly, we end up swallowing big pieces
which get to our small intestines and gather bad bacteria and yeast and not accessing the
nutrients within our food
2️⃣Be aware of what you’re doing while eating.
👉What’s the problem with watching TV or playing with your phone whilst eating? When we’re
distracted, our blood is diverted from our digestion to our outer limbs and our bodies become
immersed into the programme we are watching rather than the food we are eating.
3️⃣Try not to eat too much.
👉By eating a little too much your digestive system has to work overtime, causing a spike in blood sugar, an upset stomach, and feelings of lethargy. You could try eating little but often to
combat this.
4️⃣Be aware of what times you eat.
👉Eating late at night has been linked to many gastric issues, caused due to poorly digested food which may cause excessive acid in the stomach. Pay attention to your body cues such as
your stomach growling, in order to correctly determine if you are actually hungry.
5️⃣Be aware of your feelings towards the food you’re eating.
👉Research has proven that feeling guilty or negative towards the foods you eat can effectively discourage metabolic activity, slow digestion and cause your body to store more calories as fat
rather than burning them as energy.
6️⃣Cut down on raw foods.
👉Raw foods are much harder to digest than cooked foods, so if you’re suffering from digestive issues such as diarrhea, bloating or acid reflux, eating cooked food can help support your
digestion..

Is this a cheat meal?

Have you ever said or heard someone saying: my ‘x’ day is a cheat day, my ‘x’ meal is a cheat meal.

Let me just say: you don’t need cheat days or cheat meals.

Typically people who focus on cheat meals restrict their meals on the ‘non cheat days’.

Typically when people eat “perfect” meals some day, they rely on cheat meals to keep some sort of balance..

But… what if you don’t need cheat days?

Think of it this way:
If you are in a relationship and every day is perfect would you give your significant other a cheat day? 😳😳
My guess is you would not!

You understand that a healthy marriage/relationship has room for ups and downs on a daily basis, that’s how its BALANCED!

This is not any different from our relationship with food!

If we have balanced meals on a regular basis, we won’t need any cheat meals or cheat days.

Cheat of anything is NOT balanced.

Writing this with love on my 11th wedding anniversary with the love I share my balanced life with. ❤️👩‍❤️‍👨

Make room for balance EVERY SINGLE DAY.!

It’s time to end cheat days or cheat meals.

An edded bonus: your gut will thank you for it!
