Stefanie is a licensed acupuncturist and graduate of Pacific College. Whooooo boy! Folks who were booked with me yesterday already know that I twisted the wrong way yesterday morning and put my SI (sacroiliac) joint, well, out of joint! 🦴🩻 I’m recuperating at home and will likely be back to normal next week. I know, I know, it’s been a minute! Post every day or the algorithm will hate you, yadda yadda 😆 The truth is I don’t always have a ton to say and doing things that feel inauthentic is poison for my inspiration so there ya go.
I promise though, I’m working on a whole lot of magic behind the scenes. Different sorts of offerings. More space. More peace. Working on some opportunities to connect far outside the confines of downstate NY and share some of what has been growing in the meantime. I’m still here, not going anywhere, hibernating away until spring decides to spring 🌸

Note to our male patients — these aren’t candies! 😂 LOL let me explain. I had a delightful first visit with a gentleman last week who admitted he thought the tray of organic tampons in our restroom were little candies and we enjoyed a big laugh. 😆 The truth is, probably over 80% of my patients are women, more than 50% of the population menstruates, and having period products available in public spaces still isn’t 100% accepted. I’m doing my part to NORMALIZE MENSTRUATION 🩸 so if you need one, take one! We’ve got all sizes and only buy the non toxic versions.

⚡️⚡️⚡️A word about my newest offering, Integrated Healing Sessions. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

In the acupuncture side of our business, I stack patient bookings in up to 3 rooms at once for efficiency and so that more of you can receive the help you need.

In many ways this is a great system, but sometimes it falls short and when it does, I end up depleted while some of you don’t have time to fully articulate your thoughts or miss out on additional therapy that could enhance your healing (maybe cupping, Gua sha, or even adding craniosacral therapy into the mix).
That’s the impetus behind Integrated Healing Sessions. I want each one of you to get as much one on one time as you need. This means you can take more time to talk out your issues, receive additional therapies or simply feel unhurried. Plus, I am reserving this time - giving you 90 minutes or more for whatever guidance you need - exclusively for you. No rushing out of the room to tend to the next patient, no distractions, no lack of presence in the moment. You get my full attention and care.

My dad recently shared a ton of family photos and this gem was among them, little me dressed in my tiny suit 👩‍💼 which is ironic because I became this hippie alternative healer who wears sneakers 👟 to work every day 🤷‍♀️
Not gonna lie, all of these throwbacks were a little triggering. I look at my adorable little face (I am ADORABLE) and think of all the subsequent traumas and conditioning that wiped that big grin away. Growing is TOUGH.
That said, growth and learning and expanding and adapting can reset the way that we experience traumas and conditioning. This is always a process. We are always beginning the process anew. We are always beginners with every option available to us.
I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. But if I did, I might aspire to always see with the eyes of a beginner. I might aspire to always maintain my connection to the tiny kid with big boss energy. I might aspire to always hold all the tiny versions of past me with reverence and love.

This is a throwback to Tim and me hiking in El Yunque in Puerto Rico back in 2016, just before I graduated from my acupuncture masters program. 7 years ago now.
In Chinese medicine as well as in numerology and astrology 7 year cycles are significant, and I’m about to hit one. At 7 years licensed in my field I am also about to turn 49, which the Chinese classics lovingly describe as (I paraphrase here 🤣) the time that the ‘womb withers away’ the face wrinkles and the hairs turn white and fall out 😆
Seriously, it’s been a journey that I feel is coming to natural, cyclical end. It’s time to shift.
From 2012 until 2016, I ran myself ragged in grad school, trying to learn as much as I could while networking for my future and holding down numerous part time jobs intended to teach me business of acupuncture, which doesn’t really get addressed in school.
Immediately on graduating I dove in as a partner in one of the busiest clinics in NYC, seeing upwards of 50 patients a week while also trying to manage operations for a staff of practitioners and front end admin. I thought it was an amazing challenge. I thought it would be my whole future. I was wrong 😝 and that is completely okay. What it made me was burned TF out and miserable.
That experience taught me that I am best served by stepping back and receiving rather than trying to force growth and change. When COVID happened, that clinic closed and I had the space to figure out what might work for me.
I came to Peekskill in January 2021 and it’s been a ride — from a tiny room at to my own office at 32 North Division and now two floors in my beautiful space at 987 Main, my practice has seen incredible growth in a short while. Yet, I still find myself dropping into that scarcity / fear /grind mindset, trying to force growth. I’ve got to do what I tell all my patients to do and take care of myself, first.
2024 is the year that I fully surrender to trusting myself. To trust that my needs will be met if I am living an aligned life. To trust that if this resonates with you, you will come on the ride with me. No force needed. Let’s experiment, together. Happy year 7! 🥳🍾

Post-Thanksgiving infrared sauna sesh on Black Friday to detox all the sugar, fat and booze 🥃 🥧🍗 Have you tried infrared sauna? Soooo many benefits — I alternated with the cold plunge (not gonna lie, I can’t make it past 30 seconds in the cold plunge but love the effect it has on my deep breathing reflexes). I followed up with a 60 minute float that let me clear my mind completely and really get into my body, which is surprisingly tough for me. Anyway, thank you you are the best and I am sooooo happy you chose to open in Peekskill!

I spent last weekend in Nyack taking an intro course in CranioSacral therapy (and this is a delicious bowl of pho 🍲 I got at a place called Little Vietnam on 9w - so good!) CranioSacral or CST is an extremely gentle form of touch therapy that is thought to affect the fascia directly. As you might know, fascia is the tissue that surrounds every bone, muscle and organ in our bodies, and it is interconnected in a web-like 🕸️ structure. When we apply the gentle touch of CST, you can feel the fascia start to unwind, which can release physical and emotional tension and even old trauma stores in the body (for more on this, check out titles like ‘The Body Keeps the Score’). I’m now offering CST as a booking option, but at a wildly reduced rate because I am a beginner. If you are hesitant about needles but feel as though your nervous system needs a reset, this may be a great option for you.
To book, go to the Jane app link in my bio, pick Kathryn as your provider, and then look through the acupuncture options - you’ll find CranioSacral on the list. Availability is limited because I spend the whole time by your side and need quiet downtime in the studio to do my best. I’m out of the office today because it’s my wedding anniversary to this guy! Yes, that is Billy the former office puppy hugging his Dad 🥰 November 9 is also Millie’s 4th gotcha day, because back in 2019 she was our anniversary present to each other (ask me sometime how I stopped Tim from driving through the city on marathon Sunday because he couldn’t stand not having a dog for another minute! 🤣🐶) I managed to make him wait a few more days and we finally went on our anniversary, upon which he laid eyes on Millie and it was love at first sight.
In addition to our shared obsession over our dog children, one thing that has kept us together through the decades (we met in 1994!!!!!) is mutual respect and a willingness to WORK at our relationship. Let’s face it, every single person is annoying sometimes 😆 but how you react to and deal with that annoyance makes all the difference.
