OBITUARY
Ines Mastrogiovanni, affectionately known as “Nana,” passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on May 2, 1925, in the Bronx, New York, to Rosina (nee Santomauro) and Ercole Gaudioso, Ines was predeceased by her beloved husband, Vincent "Jimmy" Mastrogiovanni, her parents, her sons James and Peter, her son-in-law John Zerafa, and all six of her siblings.

Ines graduated from Evander Childs High School at the age of 16, and soon after she married the “boy across the street” on April 20, 1947. Together, she and Jimmy raised their four children — James, Robert, Rosanne, and Peter—in the Morris Park section of the Bronx.

Nana was the heart of her family, and she leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her caring daughter Rosanne (Zerafa), loving son Robert Mastrogiovanni and his wife Paula, daughters-in-law Sue and Diane (Lentini), and many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward the memories of her kindness, laughter, and nurturing spirit. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Ines had many simple joys that brightened her days. She loved playing cards, especially the game “May I” with her loved ones, where fun and laughter was never in short supply. Crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp, and game shows gave her an opportunity to cheer along with and yell at the contestants. Nana also found joy in tending to her house plants, nurturing them with the same care and attention she gave to her loved ones.

Her faith was a guiding force in her life, and she found comfort and strength through her church community. Nana had a special love for the New York Yankees, and she spent many hours knitting beautiful, thoughtful gifts for her family and friends.

Nana’s love, wisdom, and kindness will never be forgotten. Her family, friends, and all who knew her will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. May she rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Providence Rest Nursing Home, where she spent some of her final months.

OBITUARY
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Mussolini, also known as Laura Wissler, who left us on July 15, 2024, after a very hard-fought health battle. Predeceased by her husband Michael Mussolini, she was the mother of Michael Mussolini and Madeline Mussolini.

Laura lived a beautiful life that was full of love, laughter and resilience, and she touched the lives of all who knew her. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends; she never had a NO for anyone.

She worked for Atlantic Express Bus Company for 13 years before taking early retirement to care for her twins. She was a wonderful mother who was always there for her children, when they needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance. A friend to many and a cherished member of the Bronx, NY community, she leaves a legacy of kindness and strength in her wake. She was a very courageous woman.

Laura leaves behind her mother Anna Gill; daughter Madeline Mussolini; son Michael Mussolini; the love of her life, her grandson Lucas Mussolini; 2 sisters Michelle Turner and Georgena Cosentino; her long-time partner, Larry Bullock; as well as her aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins.

OBITUARY
John A. Zerafa, whose friends called him "JAZ," passed away on January 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and boundless love. His parents immigrated from Malta to New York City, where he was born on September 5, 1945. He lived a life marked by service, commitment, and the warmth he shared with all who knew him. A proud veteran, he served in the US Army Reserves from 1963 to 1971.

John was the respected owner of john's Auto in Mt Vernon, NY for more than 40 years. His devotion to excellence was a guiding principle, earning the trust and loyalty of all customers – many of whom he counted as friends. He also worked for three decades at the New York Daily News as a machinist, where his skills and work ethic were evident in every task he undertook, earning the admiration of colleagues and leaving an indelible mark on all he worked with.

John was a family man through and through. Married to his beautiful wife Rosanne (nee Mastrogiovanni) for over 50 years, their enduring love was a source of inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and warmth.

A loving father, his greatest pride and joy were his three sons: John and his wife Roseanne of the Bronx, NY; Robert and his wife Lindsay of Westfield, NJ; Vincent and Alba of Mamaroneck, NY; and daughter in-law Jennifer of Harrison, NY. John knew no greater honor than when he became "Papa" to eight cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth and Johnny; Gabriella, Stephanie, and Vivienne; Presley, Beau and Declan. His impact as a father and grandfather will leave a lasting impression on the hearts of his family.

He is preceded in death by his father Grazio, mother Maria (nee Camilleri), beloved sister Carmela Cavaliere, father-in-law Vincent Mastrogiovanni, and many other close family and friends who welcomed him into eternal peace, including his dogs Blackie and Yoo-Hoo. John is survived by his dear sister Josephine Koerner and mother in-law Ines Mastrogiovanni.

In this time of grief, we remember John for his kindness, generosity, love and stories he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, and may his legacy inspire us all to live with the same passion, dedication, and love that defined his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor John's memory are invited to make contributions to their local ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). John had a deep love for animals, and supporting this cause reflects his compassionate spirit.
