PCVAC’s Youth Corps committee held a training on vital signs tonight. YC members learned medical terminology, how to take blood pressures, listen to lung sounds, and more.

Youth Corps gives the opportunity for high schoolers ages 14-17 years old to ride along with senior corp and learn EMS operations. YC members get hands on experience which helps prepare them for their EMT certification and futures in healthcare.

Happy Independence Day 🇺🇸🦅🎇

Yesterday PCVAC participated in Peekskill’s annual 4th of July parade and fireworks standby. The Peekskill fireworks is the largest event of the year, requiring all of our units. 75B1 and 75B3 staged around the city to cover calls in district, while the remainder of the units including 75U1, 75B4 and Rehab 7506 staged by the waterfront. A huge thank you to all of the surrounding area agencies who helped keep our community safe.

We’re staying hydrated, hbu?

With the upcoming heat wave and increased humidity it’s important to stay hydrated to prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Here’s how you can beat the heat:

-Stay HYDRATED
-Stay out of the heat and in the AC
-Limit vigorous exercise
-Be mindful of your health and know your limitations

And if you happen to catch heat stroke… we got your back 😎
