Our leadership team had an incredible opportunity this week to be on Capitol Hill advocating for the future of therapy services alongside ADVION
From meeting with congressional offices to sharing real stories about how therapy services impact patients every day, it was a powerful reminder that advocacy truly matters. One of the highlights of the trip was participating in “Coffee with Katie” with Senator Katie Boyd Britt, where we had the opportunity to discuss the critical need for permanent therapy telehealth access and meaningful payment reform.
These conversations are so important because the policies being discussed in Washington directly affect the care our patients receive—especially those in rural communities who rely on therapy services to regain independence and improve their quality of life.
We are proud to stand alongside ADVION and other therapy leaders across the country to ensure that the voices of clinicians and patients are heard on Capitol Hill.
Advocating for our patients. Supporting our clinicians. Protecting access to care.

Did you know? Hippocrates, the “father of medicine,” advocated for manual therapy and massage as early as 460 B.C..
The power of hands-on healing has stood the test of time!

A team of SLPs — Michele Simler, CCC-SLP, Joanne Wisely CCC-SLP, Ashleigh Pristas CCC-SLP; and Roberta Brooks CCC-SLP — is working alongside multidisciplinary clinicians and IT professionals to help transform how medical records move across the continuum of care. They serve as subject matter experts allowing medical records to be exchanged from Acute-Care to Post-Acute-Care settings.
Initially focused on capturing the cognitive status of patients, their efforts evolved into the Speech-Language-Swallowing-Cognitive-Communication-Hearing (SPLASCH) PACIO Project. PACIO provides several improvements that allow real-time information exchange. This effort was initiated in compliance with the IMPACT Act (2014) and supports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) priorities for collection, reporting and analysis of data. The PACIO Project continues to evolve, now focusing on personal function and engagement.
“When records aren’t transferred to post-acute settings, it can lead to adverse outcomes, care delays and unnecessary repeated procedures… Our work improves patient care, safety and addresses health disparities, and equity,” says Simler.
